Hi there,

I've been playing GTA: CTW recently and I have achieved 100% completion.

Now, I've collected the "Lions of Fo", the game tells me to sync to Social Club in order to unlock "Extra Content".

And this is where the problem comes in: Social Club syncing no longer works in 2019, as R* dropped support for GTA: CTW on the nintendo DS (and psp). The Android and iOS versions of the game have this content without the requirement to sync with to the (now non-existing) social club.

I want to complete the content you would unlock after syncing on my Nintendo DS version of the game. But I do not know a way to obtain this content.

I'm here to ask if anyone knows a way to unlock this content now that it is impossible to sync with the social club.

I've already had a few ideas.
First Idea: if anyone has this content on their DS card (meaning you have synced when you still could sync and unlocked this content), you could use a device like a save dongle to extract it and share it with other gamers.

Another possibility I've been thinking of is this: I have an old wifi pineapple laying around here in the house. This device generaly allows you to setup your own network with new rules such as DNS, hosts etc. If someone has a mirror/knows what happened when you synced to social club, maybe we could recreate this action with a new, virtual version of the old social club (hosted on a WiFi pineaple for example, using the DNS of the old one etc) tricking the game into thinking you actually synced your Social Club and giving you the content.

Anyways, If anyone knows a way to unlock this content or wants to help me set up a way to get this content, please let me know.

Thank you in advance,
XbmbmX

Just in case anyone is following this thread, I've found some new information on WFC emulating (this is required for 'fake' sync):

github barronwaffles dwc_network_server_emulator

[Can't upload links, google it]

GTA: CTW is not in their Compitabiliy list though. We'll need someone with the files on hand to be able to upload them to the DS game card.

So, you need a .sav to get the social club "sync"? I could check my old card if it's possible to get the save data for you.
Let me check.

I need more than just the .sav, but it's a good start!

Let me know if you have it.

Thnx a lot,

Update: @Patxinco , sadly enough I couldn't use your sav file to extract any information about the social club sync. Seems like I will need another kind of file.

I'm digging into that github repo I meantioned earlier now.

Allright, I think I got something here.

I followed the Guide in the github repo I mentioned earlier. (I set my Nintendo DNS to their servers.)

Since you cannot patch the .nds file on the cartridge itself, I just used my nintendo save dongle to extract my own save and than I used an .nds from the game on the internet to patch "WFCreplay" on it [google]

After this, I went in the game and entered the computer. After a while it said '''synced stats'' and It generated a friendcode.

Now i'll see if the game unlocks the content for me :)

I'll keep you updated.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
