Yeah, despite popular beliefs, there is not really any good RPG on the DS. Though if you look into gba games, you have a lot of choice.

I agree, the GBA has a LOT of RPGs on it. I recommend Golden Sun 1 and 2. I love those games, still own my copy of 2 and have played it through nearly 10 times. But yes, the GBA is the way to go if you want handheld RPG goodness.

Just saw this post up in the front page,... and lets keep dead posts dead

and to clear things up, lets just download jenesisDS and play our Phantasy Star/ Shining force on your DS

Phantom Hourglass is very much doable without a walkthrough.

Don't use the word 'gay' for 'stupid', it's childish, stupid, underdeveloped and homophobic.
Don't use the word 'stupid' when telling someone not to use stupid. It makes you sound STUPID.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates is out. Was fairly short but a great game.

i'd go for Dragon Quest IV. i like it a lot more than ff3.
yes, its only out in japanese, but the AR cheats unlock nearly complete english and german languages

Sadly all the good games are Japanese, all the US and EU get is Shovelware (which, I think, is why people have such a low opinion of the DS).

If the Japanese developers even tried to translate their games, many would see the DS in a whole new light and Nintendo would probably make a lot more money out of it.

agree!

DQ:rocket slime.

really entertaining RPG with twist on normal turn based fighting. (like final fantasy).
DQ Rocket Slime does NOT even REMOTELY fit into the RPG category. It has MUCH more in common with action adventure games like Zelda, and the old "Final Fantasy" games on the gb.

Check out Contact, Children of Mana (Action RPG), Heroes of Mana (RTS RPG, yeah genre bending), Lunar Dragon Song, or...well that's about it (that I haven't seen mentioned here much). I feel your pain.

FFIII (standard rpg)
children of mana (action-adventure rpg)
contact (action/adv. rpg)
lunar knights (action adv. rpg)
FFXII: RW (not realy and rpg, its a RTS, but still has some rpg elements in it)
LostMagic (again, RTS, more cartoony art style, but i like it)

I was just going to say Contact, but it's already been mentioned. FFCCROF as well, obviously. Man, I can't wait for the Kingdom Hearts game.
