Do you have any idea why the shading feels weird.

I also tried sketching a lil bat

Because you put equal shading above and below the neck

When you shade you need to pick a source of light and primarily add shading in the opposite direction

Look at your pfp and note the shading is all below the face

The second thing is you chose a pretty dark color to shade with and didn't blend it - which isn't necessarily wrong but does make for a harsher looking overall end product

I rubbed the guy, what would you recommend next?
I don't wanna sound like an asshole- but if you have shading on your body, then best to do it on the rest of the colors like those blue flappy ears and cheeks instead of it being one flat colour

The ear patterning is supposed to be distinct

I don't know about your drawing software BUT in photoshop you can take certain layers and decrease the opacity to make them lighter
