Hacking Going back to original

Hi guys this may be a daft question but if you remove all your homebrew by deleating the channel get rid of the twilight hack is it possable to then upgrad to the next firmware and accept updates from nintendo again also if you have the homebrew installed and it gets updated by accident from nintendo whats the outcome ?

Not going to get bricked then sorry if its a stupid question.
So will it just stop the home brew and back up working then and allow the original discs to keep playing as normal?
