I'm really scratching my head over the very early announcement of the 3DS. I understand the target demographic of the DSiXL were older folks, and to buy it as a "portable console" for families, but it sure seems like they are going to cannibalize the sales of the XL with the 3d announcement.

I think they made a good decision by quietly announce it with a press statement instead of glamorizing at some big show.
Like this, folks like us who follow the scene and still decide to get an XL, can't really curse Nintendo for releasing the new hardware next year.
Imagine if you would have gotten one today and next week the outrageously announcement would be done , how betrayed would you feel ?
This way we know it's coming, and still the big masses aren't really affected by the news.
I think it was fair of them to let us know before buying an XL.
I still wanted one, and I got it this morning and I certainly don't regret it !

Nope.

Waste of money, imo.
You probably either:
1. Have a DSi.
2. Haven't seen the DSi XL in person.
3. Are trying to skip the DSi family altogether.
Or 4. He wants to act cool and say that Nintendo is altogether shitty.

Not to be rude though, because you're a lot of help here!

BTW, it's better to charge it fully before turning it on for the first time. Doing this is called "initializing" the battery, and will make the battery last longer.

While I'm waiting for my DSi XL to charge, I'm playing with this weird gooey putty that makes fart sounds. It's strangely entertaining.

EDIT: It's done charging. Hurray!

Haha...I have something like that too. It's yellow, and it actually sound realistic.

On-Topic: I might get one for my birthday if I don't get a Pandora.

And while the XL supports WPA, you can only game if you're using WEP or a Nintendo Wi-fi adapter.
Wait, so even though it supports WPA...it can't use it?...
So what's the point of having WPA support -.-X

I have crap eye sight so I'm picking one up. I'm upgrading from a DSL which I think has the smallest screens of all the DS family, so I'm excited, especially when I mainly play RPGs.

Regular games can't use WPA, but DSiWare, DSi-mode games, the DSi Shop and the built in web browser can.

lolomgwtfbbq?

I have a DSi. Purchasing a DSi XL would be a waste of money considering I already own one and do not have bad eyesight. What a stupid assumption!

Does it get preloaded with games ? did you get the bonus 1,000 points?
As far as I know, you'd still get the points until the offer that was extended a while ago ends on Wednesday.

Seeing as I'm not a very avid NDS user I'm just going to hold it out with my DSL until the 3DS comes out

If anything I would get a DSi because I use it on the go and so the DSi XL would be terrible for me.
