Gateway or homebrew?

The OP specifically mentions their relevance alongside eachother though.
Not as alternatives to a user that has neither.

"If you already own a 4.x device and Gateway - does SSSpwn offer any additional functionality or is everything already covered by Gateway on 4.x?"

Fair enough.

Do some reading on wololo.net, very explanatory articles regarding what the difference is between a kernel mode exploit (MSET, CFW, Gateway+clones) and usermode exploit (SSSpwn)

Kernel mode can boot ROMs and userland can boot homebrew. sssPWN will never EVER run ROMs no matter how much one crosses their fingers or prays to their higher being of choice at night. Sorry.

That is, of course, unless a very VERY talented duel skill amateur developer/reverser engineer with very VERY expensive equipment can find a kernel vulnerability and use smealums savegame exploit as an entry point. (A.K.A what the devs call an "privilege escalation")

So yeah, i wouldn't be getting my hopes up and just get a Gateway card so you can get in on all the action.
I like when people try and think they know so much :)

Well gateway has a release on the horizion for current firmware, if it's a kernel exploit then it perhaps it could be integrated into SSSPWN.

i wonder how long before the "why is there no rom loader yet?" and "how do i convert .3ds to .3dsx?" threads appear
You have to wonder about that? I'm surprised they haven't popped up already. =P
I hope SSSpwn never supports pirated games so I don't feel bad for buying a $60 flashcart over a $10 game
Its only a matter of time before someone either converts IT to its own purposes of develops its own alternative.
Its always just a matter of time.

With this exploit, any form of native rom loading is impossible. Even with an "Alternative", it would require kernel access. 3DSX isn't even remotely similar to 3DS, it's just a container holding the compiled arm11 code of an application.

You'll be waiting a long while for someone to develop something to enable that on SSSpwn. Even when it comes, it'll just be a "CFW Launcher" like Gateway is. The Homebrew menu will be irrelevant.

If one owns the Gateway card on 4.5 is it worth getting Smealum's new exploit game?

You realize this game was going as cheap as $2 before its announcement, right?

Cheap: Yes (But bought out...)
Worth it: Yes. If you're actually interested in homebrew and not piracy.

You know when people usually are waiting for this "someone" who's coming "soon" and that they hope will answer their prayers, 99 times out of 100 that person never comes. the other 1 time that person comes to laugh at those waiting in line.

I swear man.....people come on here thinking exploits open up EVERYTHING. Get to know the difference between the two before talking about what you will be expecting it to do for you. Oh that was directed at the person I quoted.

Why is everyone having a dig at me? How is my post unfactual at all? Ive been following hacking scenes since before the xbox 1 was released. I'm not a dev by any means, aside from a little bit of coding at high school and being an active member of wololo.net. I assure you, my friend, i certainly know the difference.

All the little pirates on this forums need to stop hanging onto that littlebit of hope that a free solution such as SSSpwn will lead you to having the same features of a flashcard that costs 60 bucks. Because it won't!

Not even joking, this is the dumbest thing I've read in a long while.

You misunderstand - I'm not saying people should 'wait' on this.
I'm saying its the nature of the internet that sooner or later someone will have a go at it an break through.

Thats what people do, they try to get to places they're told they can't go.
Forbidden fruits and all that.
