This is pissing me off big time, I've tried 4 times now. I've renamed the file devmenu.csu in 2.3.4 to devmenu.3ds and it keeps coming up as a VC super mario bros.3 rom! it's a 320kb file but it plays the game perfectly. Can anyone help me? bbb-devkittools.rar It's from this RAR folder.

So are game patches .cia? Does this solve the "not being able to get patches from out of region"? Assuming someone dumps the updates. Or are updates a different format?

Use the Dev menu Rom to install Dev menu CIA.

I just got this...

That doesn't work for me, already tried...

now that's weird.

I mean, the only pop up like that kind I got,
was when I tried to install playcoinsetter.cia (which I also read in one of the many threads here that it won't work)
I also read that other devmenu.cia won't install,

so I was surprised that the devmenu_2x.cia worked

I can't check right now, but I'm almost definitely sure that with this update, EmuNAND REQUIRES the red flashcard in order to boot now, regardless of firmware version.
Either way, you can't really install DevMenu unless you have the red card since you need to launch it as a ROM anyways.

i thought that GW started requiring the red card to boot emunand after the whole bricking fiasco ,and the statement they just released in OP says explicitly" you can install games and boot them without the red card in the cart slot" and that they "only recommend installing dev men to emunand" , so then i would assume you can install CIA to emunand and boot without the red card

U need to have the red card to boot EmuNAND due to the new functionalities that firmware 8.x comes with.
However, after that, u can safely remove the red card
