Now we watch from a safe distance. If the card does not survive the trials then my shiny XY Pokemon will be far more valuable to me. If it does than my 3ds will be more valuable to me. I'd rather the latter but I'll manage either way.

If anyone is buying this card regardless with the hope of it working later on with 6.0... Wrong way to go.
IF it does not work with 6.0 before release date I HIGHLY doubt it, it will work on 6.0 anytime soon. They just say that because they don't know if its possible yet / they are working on it. But really? Why buy something you are not sure of? U less of course you don't care about updating and you have a lot of $ to throw around. Just don't complain later on... Oh wait....

Yeah but giving 70$ for one cart (Gateway 3DS) that will play ALL games that got released until firmware 6.x
Compared to giving tons of $$$ for Legit games that got released 'till firmware update 6.x

IMO it's not so bad thing.. if you don't mind being limited.
But no 3DS homebrew is still a bummer though...

I don't care about homebrew. The 3ds games are high priority.
I have other consolers and pc to do this and to tell the truth i don't use them a lot.
Some virtual cosnole games on wii lately.

Well, it's still cost effective to get it for the games applicable up to 6.0 if you haven't yet updated. They won't retroactively make games require later firmware that were previously operating on older firmware.

If you even plan on getting three early console games you save money. But... Quite frankly, I'm not sure there are even three games on the 3ds worth getting though. Don't y'all go rattling off games, I know what exists. I'm making a value judgment.

Well of course it will still save you money BUT some people dont see it that way and regardless they would whine if it never gets any update. My pount was that it feels like if it releases without it working on 6.0 it pretty much wont ever get updated for some reason. Or is better to think that way to not be dissappointed later lol

That's all fine and good until things like Pokemon, Sonic, and Skylanders come out in a few months. And then of course you can't use the eshop at all or do multiplayer Mario Kart, Luigi, etc.

So the question is, is it worth 80$ for a few months?

They already recommend people not to play online so games like Animal Crossing as well won't work online, which takes a lot of the fun of the game.
Then there's games like Project x Zone, Shin Megami Tensei 4, Rune Factory 4, Mario and Luigi Dream Team, just next month. People that like RPG's won't be able to play those since they'll probably require the update for 6.0.0, which so far appear to be really awesome.

Well, the answer to stopping piracy is to offer a better experience going legit than pirating!

Oh my goood Soniiic. i love sonic! :O
*ahem* For single-player YES and if you don't plan on going to internet, otherwise NO ...imo

Ah, just wait for the hack i guess xD maybe games could be played through SD slot somehow..just like PSP :)

I'm sorry, is it this hard to do math?

1 3DS game = 40€

2 3DS games = 80€

1 Gateway = 70€

If you add up all the games the Gateway can play, you're talking about a fortune. Even with the card only working with the 5.x.x firmware.

The only way to have a lot of $$$ to throw around is to buy the games. Something many of us do not.

The only down side is that if you buy genuine games you will at least have them to sell or continue to use when you update your firmware. Old games are cool but they will bore you after a while. The gateway will be worth $0.00 when you upgrade past 6.0.

I do not get why people are being so finicky about the Gateway 3DS. I mean, I remember one poster harking to the early days of flashcards that needed technical knowledge to use. (Indeed, GBA Flashcards already had all the memory you could use, some of them only holding one game! Even so, you needed to plug the card into the Parallel Port and load the ROMs using a loader! You even needed Pogoshell for proper memory arrangement! Also, the earliest DS Flashcards required to first use the GBA slot in order to bypass the DS protection, that is, a PassMe. Only later you could flash your own firmware into the DS, that is, FlashMe, yet, even then, you had to crash PictoChat in order to see the type of firmware your Nintendoo DS has! Now, the DS Nitro and DS Lite are protected against the updates of the DSi, having some people gloat over the fact that they have these older systems!) Then again, I remember people hoping that the 3DS Flashcards would not come for a while to let Nintendoo get some money, first!

Also, why is everyone getting so hard on the Gateway 3DS? This is the first 3DS flashcard (Crown 3DS not counting). Of course, they would hit on some kinks along the way! We need to let the Gateway 3DS develop before we get all those advanced features (multiboot, homebrew...)! After all, there was once a time when we actually measured DS flashcards by the amount of ROMs playable by the flashcards! Plus, given how this flashcard can play lots of ROMs, this flashcard pays for itself many times over. $80 is nothing compared to the ~$120 GBA flashcards once upon a time.

Honestly, I am optimistic about this. I am still waiting for GBATemp to review the card, though.

Also, why is everyone getting so hard on the Galaxy 3DS? This is the first 3DS flashcard (Crown 3DS not counting). Of course, they would hit on some kinks along the way! We need to let the Galaxy 3DS develop before we get all those advanced features (multiboot, homebrew...)!

What?
