Gateway 3DS release time

Posted by r4town team on 19th Jun 2013
We contacted Gateway 3DS team to confirm the release time. it will come out in end of June. Sorry to bring trouble to customers.

Actually, the 20th of june is the end of june :p

I'm loosing my faith on this.

God damn it, my 3DS is on the desk OFF for almost a year already :(.

But still I'm not happy with just playing games, I wanted is the whole system shut off and completely ripped off and see something like a modded XBMC as the main system :ph34r:.

ps: Everyone is just not even trying to crack the system, but instead they are all trying to make a HUGE AMOUNT OF PROFIT with those 3DS crap cards that barely do nothing :unsure:. (Oh well, that's just my thoughts before somene want to kick me in the butt :) ).

Can I PLEASE be the first one :wacko::)
Keep Cool

I'll agree that the amount of hackers and people putting work in the "jailbreak" of the 3DS system is low. In fact that might be the whole reason why the system has been out for so long and hasn't been hacked yet. No 3DS ROM workable flashcard, and more importantly: no custom firmwares (that would make flashcards useless).

But I have stated this several times, and I will do again:

IF the Gateway card works, even if only on prior to 6.0.0 firmwares, this is a big WIN for them and all the people waiting and chewing on their nails for a way to grab a flashcard that plays 3DS games.

This is the very FIRST 3DS ROM compatible flashcard people.

So I ask, why do you want everything right off the bat? People complaining about the need of multiple SD cards, and Menus, and whatnot.

Remember the first GBC and GBA flashcards? Where were your Menus then?

So please people, have a little patience, give the team time to:

1- RELEASE the card for crying out loud;

2- Develop the cards "software";

3- Update a workaround if they can for the new firmwares;

4- Create a NEW gateway if needed for the new firmwares so you can play the newer games.

Have a little faith :/

It's been stated multiple times... it was [supposedly] blocked in 6.X.X, not 5.X.X ...

No one that actually has the gateway 3ds has cofirmed that it was blocked. Its just speculated it is because the gateway team hasn't peeped a word on the new firmware except that they are "testing" it.

It takes 2 minutes to test it. Flash carts that work often pop up confirmation within hours. Gateway has spent multiple times more time and effort answering e-mails than it would take to pop the cart in a 3DS and see if it starts up.

I get that lol, but its still speculated until they say its blocked no matter how hard you argue it.
and by "more effort answering emails" you mean more effort hitting crtl-V ;)

Guys im not good at these stuff, some question.
1.Since this card is region blocked does this mean that a US card wont work on a European 3ds or is it that it will only play US roms?
2.In case that where people are going to buy the card and later on gateway releases an update in order for the card to be able to play games of higher firmware will we be able to update the card somehow or are we gonna need to buy a new one, like will it be up-datable through SD like it was with DS through software like wood.

1. I think the card is region free.. or does not matter? It's the game region that matter. The card only are make the 3DS think it is real cart. Perhaps I am wrong..
2.IDK.

oh and one more thing when it says 1 game per sd, is this needed only in order to not lose the save game or you cant erase the old game and put a new one inside?

Aha i see katsumi thank you very much for your reply so you can actually use it in any console from any region,with the difference that still you cant plau roms from another region of your console

1.- Yeah, the Gateway is region free. What's important is the region of the rom you are trying to play. You wont be able to play a Japanese ROM on a EU 3DS.
2.- It will depend on the game. If the game needs a special function in the console that's only available at a certain firmware version, we are screwed. If the Gateway ever sees the light, you can bet that there will be alternatives to patch any ROM so it passes the firmware detection part.

I thought someone is say that if you switch rom(micro SD) in the gateway then last savefile from xxxx game will get purged/deleted? "New game will see save file as corrupt, and kill/delete it"? Hmm..

I see friend thanks for the reply, to be honest my opinion after reading most of the posts on these 44 pages is that except from the fact that there will be development on 3ds flashcarts, is that in worst case even if there is never going to be a good, solid flashcart like in the past years for DS, at least its sure that in the ending days of this console which will take some years we are going to have a flashcart that will be able to play every rom since there wont be any need for an update, but still because ive always believed that hacking of consoles comes through the companies themselves with 3rd party people that dont have any connections to the specific company we are going to see some solid work on 3ds hacking.

Im willing to give Gateway the benefit of the doubt..but if they dont release this thing or post any new info by the end of the month I am just going to update my 3DS..having a card that cannot be updated(Especially since the newer games will require updates and the new firmware update does look interesting) then what is the point..I think Gateway already knows if the new update works on it or not, they might be trying to initiate a fix for it, or maybe they cant..but will see what happens

I'm sure they know if it works or not. This is team gateway right now.

Scenario 1) the card is blocked and to not lose sales right of the bat are activily investigating it.

Scenario 2) it wasn't blocked or was blocked and they found a workaround and aren't saying a word so Nintendo doesn't update before release.

the one thing I was curious of the whole save file thing could we use the r4 save dongle to backup our saves for each game so we never lose our saves? I know we'll have to wait and see but I really hope there is a save file solution.

I dont own a 3DS but i have my doubts about this thing even coming out.
I hope it does, Barnaby Jones. I didn't get the job that I was hoping to have by now, so now I have about enough money to buy a 3DSXL, a Gateway, and a high-profile game or two. Damn you, economy.

I have enough money to buy a Gateway if I give up chocolate for a month. Damn you economy.

Quite possibly, the save dongle will work. There's no reason to assume otherwise.

Also, we don't know how big the gateway team is. If it's some guy working out of his mother's basement, he might be reluctant to upgrade his only 3DS to 6.0.0.x, and he might not have the spare cash to grab another. Just saying. ;-)
