Here is a litte FAQ about Gateway 3DS, answering customers' most popular
questions.

- Is it one microSD per game?
Currently yes.

No, so long as the microSD card is larger than the rom size.

Currently no, however due to popular demand, we have launched an investigation into this possibility.

- Can it play Homebrew?
No.

- Are saved games working? Once you take out the game is the save file kept or lost?
We are currently working to fully support back up and restore of save data.

- Can Nintendo block Gateway with an update?
Anything is possible we would rather not speculate (As always, any updates should be avoided)

- How big are the games and what is the minimum size for the microSD card?
Some range from 256MB to 4GB

- Can you play multiplayer local and mostly online?
Yes, but we advise not to use online features

- Do the game keep internet capacity?
Yes, but we advise not to use online features

- Is it upgradable?
Yes some aspects of the design will be upgradable.

- Can it run normal DS roms?
No, there are many alternative options for this.

- Suggested Retail price?
About $80/€65

Thanks to Gamer for the original news post.

Well, I was hoping they'd answer my question: Should I upgrade my firmware right now before all of this gets released?

Better question: What is the suggested firmware to be at?

good question. Somehow doubt it supports latest firmware but then again who knows?

It doesn't matter because this is a cartridge emulator. If you're holding onto hope for the 3dbrew savehack, you might as well stay put on Version 4 firmware, otherwise go ahead and update. Either should work with Gateway.

I'd imagine it would. Does anyone happen to know what firmware the white 3DS XL shipped with in Europe by chance? My memory is a bit foggy, but I don't think you have to be updated to play 3DS game online do you?

the white XL shipped with 4.4 right?

The pricing is a bit high for something that may be block rather fast, I may just wait for a cheaper alternative.

And how long did it take before the iEvolution got basically patched out of existence. Alot of people knew well ahead of time that it wouldn't last forever and they still bought it. Being blocked by a patch isn't going to stop alot of people from getting this flashcart.

I remember when GBA flash carts were a couple hundred dollars. $80 for the first successful attempt at a backup device for a console is generous.

Yea... Even though I never got one for the GBA, I remember reading up on them when I first got into GBA emulators. Its good to know that a review is coming soon too. Look forward to it.

Thank you so much for posting this FAQ.

- Is it one microSD per game?
Currently yes.
...boo. This does not really matter for me, though; I am probably just going to play Shin Megami Tensei: Hackers all through, anyways.

- Must the microSD card size match the game size?
No, so long as the microSD card is larger than the rom size.
/relief/

- Can it play games from other regions?
Currently no, however due to popular demand, we have launched an investigation into this possibility.
WOOOOOO!

- Can it play Homebrew?
No.
Boo. (Then again, this is to be expected; there is no homebrew at all!

- Are saved games working? Once you take out the game is the save file kept or lost?
We are currently working to fully support back up and restore of save data.

...I guess this is time to buy that DS2...

- Suggested Retail price?
About $80/€65
...I am willing to pay the price here. After all, this flashcard would pay for itself easily many, many times!

Let me make life even less difficult for you.
Readers of this thread, would you kindly not pre-pay for the Gateway 3DS until the official Gateway 3DS says otherwise?

oh finally something clear : (GBAtemp was offered a review sample. So expect a review soon enough.)
