I've still not got this DevMenu.3ds to work in GW Mode in sysNAND. I've tried 4 MicroSD cards of sizes 1GB, 4GB, 32GB and 64GB, all formatted fully with SD Formatter and Windows; and several different copies of DevMenu.3ds. Any other .3ds file works fine, it's just DevMenu that won't.
Pm me your mail.

my findings on the MSET/ N3DS_ROPInstaller thing:

I tried everything I could think of, but could NOT get the DS Profile exploit to stop working, tried real NDS cart, Blue GW cart, switch OFF, no go.
Finally I found a way to have the exploit vanish. Go in Emunand > Settings > DS Profile and change DS profile comment or color.
Then when I came back the Sysnand, the exploit had vanished.

This was perfect to test the N3DS_ROPInstaller.nds.
I just ran it using the Blue GW card, it installed in less than a second.
After I tried the DS Profile exploit again from sysand, it worked perfectly.

-> No need for zelda OoT swap ever again, yaye
-> no need to install NVRAM from GW Menu, it can be done by the awesome N3DS_ROPInstaller instead.

I'm on JPN N3DS 8.1 with flashcardtimewarp installed.

My findings from the last 2.5 hours are as follows:

When DevMenu doesn't work it's probably because of the physical SD Cards you have - not how they are setup. I tried a LOT of combinations of 1GB, 4GB, 32GB and 64GB and in the end the only one that worked was a cheap unbranded 1GB card in the Gateway and a Toshiba 4GB card in the N3DS (might be the one that came with it), both formatted to FAT32.
The MD5 hash of the version of DevMenu I used is e65629fbe2ae8a419cf8624df78e78b2, and it's the one found everywhere. No problem there (you can check this using WinMD5Sum).

My DS Profile exploit did get erased after playing Mario Kart DS from the Blue Card.
My sysNAND setup is FW 9.0E with Timewarp installed previously.
N3DS_ROPInstaller.nds. does restore the exploit nicely.

What did you do in Mario kart DS exactly? I cannot reproduce (exploit stays active after returning to sysnand or even full shut down!)

Just tried the same, time attack, it saved, i went back to 3DS menu using Home button.
No go, exploit is still there and working, really is a mystery xD

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
