You are missing the point, the old method to downgrade to 4.5 results in 4.5 system. This method only downgrade system settings. They aren't in any way the same.

Also, I don't think they would need to port the cubic ninja or Zelda support for old 3ds for this. It is is only used as an entry point the first time to install the CIA. But we can always use the online method instead as an entry point and install the CIA.

Again, that's how I understand it, unless I am missing something

No, because those 3DS that can't use gateway is because they don't have a working browser (never got updated through internet) so their only way to run gateway would be to see the Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time exploit ported on them. If they had a working browser, they could use the online exploit then downgrade if they want the DS profile exploit.

So without a working exploit, they wouldn't be able to use this mset thing. Like on N3DS, if you don't have Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time, it won't work because you don't have a working exploit to install it.

But if they port the Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time on the O3DS, you won't need this mset thing as you would then be able to either use the Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time exploit, or downgrade directly to 4.5 if you want the DS profile exploit.

I know this methos only change the system settings and it's because a N3DS can't be downgraded. But on an O3DS, there is not point in using such a thing when you can directly downgrade to get the "true" ds profile exploit.

I have installed gateway 3.2 on my new 3DS and the profit launch work great.. but with my dstwo is not working after that.. like my old 3ds.

You need to reinstall NVRAM and the .cia each time ? Can i use the blue card ?
No, once the cia is installed, it stays for good, no need to reinstall.
About NVRAM, yes if you play a NDS game and switch off the N3DS directly after it.
It SEEMS if after playing a NDS game you go back to DS Profile and reinstall NVRAM from there BEFORE switching off, the exploit is saved.

Currently trying to determine what the deal is with disappearing DS Profile exploit, seems to be linked to playing original NDS versus flashcard NDS..

The latest GW update said to backup SysNAND and create EmuNAND on N3DS. How do I go about doing those?

Also, if I still want to play DS games, do I need to reinstall N3DS exploit each time I want to use GW?

you can do both backup sys nand & format emu nand from the gateway menu which you can access with cubic ninja or ocarina of time with the gateway modified save file (read about it) & your 2nd question in my case if you exit nds mode & go to gw mode before you turn off your console then the exploit will still work as it seems going back to gw mode re-activates the exploit, however someone here said they turn their n3ds off after playing nds games without having to go into gw mode & the exploit still works for them but for me this didn't work.

But this argument is related to o3ds, which does have a working internet exploit. Therefore, the cubic ninja/Zelda entry points aren't needed.

Now the whole mset exploit is is a different matter that is not related to the entry points above. The 3ds system settings in that matter could be downgraded to 4.5, while keeping the system itself on 9.x.. Opposed to the old method of downgrading the console to 4.5

Edit: there are also negative sides to downgrading, like save incompatibilities. Regardless of what can be done, this would still serve as a viable option for o3ds to get a working offline exploit on 9.x firmware

Okay and the blue card can work again? because on the website gateway said: – Built-in NVRAM installer in the Gateway menu (behaves same as the Blue Card Gateway installer)

I wonder if it can work because its almost the same thing.

If I play a DS game, do I need to reinstall the Devmenu and mset thing each time I want to use GW mode, or do I just need to run the NVRAM Installer?
Also, if I want to play a retail N3DS game (Xenoblade Chronicles) how would I get into GW Classic Mode with the GW 3.2 update?

nope it doesn't.....but really they should just add the option to install the n3DS profile exploits then even if it gets wiped for whatever reason you only need a working NDS flashcard to re-install rather than CN/oot

ok mine seems to of stuck now even if i exit directly from playing a NDS game or the blue card, even starting the same homebrew app as when it got wiped, so idk seems even better than the original 4.x console exploit

maybe as i used flash card to play the nds games. hopefully the gw team can shed some light about this issue, for now i have restored sys nand on the n3dsxl & won't be installing the ds profile exploit again until i test it for few days on the regular n3ds just to see if it's stable enough.

No. All the 3DS doesn't have an online working exploit. I bet you didn't read my message... Let's try with caps :

ALL THE 3DS THAT ARE BETWEEN 5.0 AND 9.2 RANGE AND WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN UPDATED ONLINE (so with a 0 in the last digit of the firmware) DOESN'T WORK WITH THE ONLINE EXPLOIT AND SO CAN'T RUN THE GATEWAY AT ALL. ONLY POSSIBILITY IS TO USE A SKY3DS FOR THOSE 3DS.

So, for those people who are stuck with a 5.0~9.2 range 3DS and can't use the gateway, the only way to use it would be a port of the Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time exploit.

Should run fine. It run fine on my 9.2 emunand. Gateway doesn't care about firmware updates in the rom and spoof the number so even if the game have a 9.4 update, it will run with a lower version (except if a thing inside the firmware is required, like 8.1 for Smash Bros). And if it works on 9.2, I bet it also work on 9.0

yeah people dont understand that oot/CN being ported to work for o3DS is the only hope for some o3DS owners who are past 4.x and have no browser installed (inb4 update by cart.....that doesn't install the browser)....granted they are a minority, but they are still potential customers

Does such a thing even exist? I don't there is any 3ds with a high firmware that has zero in the end.

Besides, those 3ds won't be able to use the current online exploit or even downgrade for that matter. So your point is invalid all around

no & no, devmenu is in .3ds format so this stay on your micro sd card in your gateway card & you run it from multirom menu by pressing SELECT & the mset is installed permanent so you don't need to re-install it again,i think although i have not tried this all you need to do if the exploit stops working is run the nvram installer & to do this you will need your cubic ninja/zelda oot to access gw mode again.

You can either launch the exploit without the GW card in you 3DS or hold R (it might be L I do not remember which) while launching the exploit with the GW card in

To those wondering, I did try and found that new MSETT entry point using downgraded System Settings only works for N3DS. I attempted it on o3DS and it just crashes back to Home Menu forcing a restart.

Looks like Gateway's new MSETT ROP chain is only setup for N3DS. :(

psssshhh, if they have a save dongle or simple access to another GW compatible console they could install the exploit, then install the browser via cia and have done with, if you cant grasp it you dont have to argue, for some o3DS owners the oot exploit being ported to o3DS is their ONLY option without having to sell their console and get another one

It exist and there is a lot more of 3DS not supporting gateway that you think . All the 3DS updates with a game end with "0" for example (http://3ds.essh.co/).

BUT IF THE CUBIC NINJA/OCARINA OF TIME EXPLOIT IS PORTED, THEY WON'T NEED THE ONLINE EXPLOIT. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO USE THEIR O3DS LIKE ACTUAL N3DS USERS, OR DOWNGRADE.

Actual downgrade require the online exploit because those systems are on 5.0~9.2 and it's the only exploit available. With Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time one, O3DS users would be able to downgrade i f they want to (no internet required for that, it just require a way to boot the gateway launcher, which would be possible with Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time exploit).

Think before you speak

I bet you should say that to yourself... Check what gamesquest1 said, which confirm what I said.
