One charge + 80 hours = HOLY FRAK! Why can't we get batteries like this for the 3DS and Smart Devices?!

>no screen or display of any kind
>passively uses battery (only uses considerable power to transmit when buttons are pressed/joystick is moved, otherwise just stays in standby when powered on)
>Wavebird lasts just as long if not longer
>2012 technology

We're surprised?

Now, tell me the TABLET lasts 80 hours and then we're talking "Holy Frak".

Up to 80 hours.

Probably means you'll get 80 off it idling with the battery operating at a certain temp. I would be surprised if you get that playing.

Can't tell if you're being serious, or delusional.
I thought he was telling the truth. When I saw the thread title, I was like "God, if a controller can go for this long, why can't a 3DS last 12 hours on factory-stock batteries?"

Smart devices = running 1.x ghz (or better) processors, gfx chips, bluetooth, wifi, etc. which will eat up ANY battery you put inside.
I have a bluetooth controller with a TINY battery which lasts a good 9 hours. Add this to the fact that the WiiU controllers might well use Bluetooth LE, which uses a fraction of the power of regular bluetooth, 80 hours should easily be possible for a game controller, hell, I've only change the AA batteries in my keyboard twice in the last ten months.

My attempt to be goofy. I know that in Smart Devices there are the issues of touch screens, higher processing, and wireless frequencies that eat up more juice than just inputs.

That's some pretty long battery life.
Although just as long as it's rechargeable, I am happy. I freaking hate the fact that the Wii-Motes use batteries.

Give me the option of using normal batteries over some custom rechargeable stuff any day of the week, I will even take a minor hit in total capacity.

Also http://www.usbcell.com/ - awesome little things to have around.

I am rather poor, batteries get really expensive replacing over time.

My 360 controllers tend to last for a pretty long time, so this isn't all that surprising.

Now, do they have anything on the battery life of the tablet controller?

I think we should outlaw healthcare entirely because the fact that people can get healthcare today is unfair to those in the past that couldn't

College costs, college loans, book prices, the entire thing is predatory, oft touted as essential to a successful life for my generation and the ones since, and completely unaffordable without putting you through an insane financial hardship for literal decades in many situations.

It's important for society to be healthy and educated. If those things can't happen because all of the institutions that prop up those industries make it unattainable for all but a small portion of society, then your society is largely going to be disease ridden, dying, and uneducated in very short order.

Issue is it's too rich of a coperation already with bad sugar diets causing diabetes and killing teeth a new set of teeth around 90k

I agree it's not easy for the average American, let alone the ones below that average. Free / cheaper healthcare is much more important I think than free university education.
Of course like @mthrnite said, why not both. But I doubt both will get solved at once, and surely healthcare is top priority.

@K3Nv2 that's crazily expensive. how long will that take to pay off?

Although diet is largely education, people don't need to go to university to learn what's healthy and what's not,
it's the whole country, big corporations and advertising that is to blame for leading most of the population to believe that poptarts and froot loops are healthy to feed a child
  • mthrnite @ mthrnite:
i would think the population knows better but with food deserts and abject poverty, sometimes a poptart gonna have to do.
