Hacking Ftp pkg to ps3

Hey fellas trying to ftp .pkg files using FileZilla and multiman and I can’t figure out where to stick the .pkg files on my ps3 internal hdd. I watched a few tutorials but most are doing iso which you still in either ps3 or games folder but didn’t see any for .pkg. I only have an 8gb usb stick which limits the size of game I can transfer but connecting my pc and ps3 with a crossover cable have given me extremely fast transfer times. So ftp .pkg files to which folder and then install .rap or edit files on exdata folder on usb and install with psnpatch???

I have so far tried dev_hdd0/PKG
and
dev_hdd0/packages
But when i go to install packages neither one brought anything up
