Somebody in a german forum has posted that the price of flatmii will be 70-100 EURO. I don't rely on this source, but this would be much more than i expected. It's just a drive connector to usb2.0, all the processing needed is done by the pc, i expected max 30 EURO, maybe 50 EURO while it's brand new.

But that is same the reason the gamecube version was never commercially made - the price! Have a read through the dextrose thread http://www.dextrose.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=10497 and you will see the components are not cheap. Now flatmii is only taking the USB part and has dropped the hard drive so perhaps that will cut the cost to produce.

The original USB/HD loader could not stream audio from gamecube games so it will be interesting to see if flatmii has resolved this issue.

so, i know there is a lot of skepticism, but i am assure everyone 100% that this is real and legit.

everyone will see soon enough after GBATemp gets a sample to review.....

i, for one, am incredibly excited about this.

Ok... I am ready to accept that this is the one I have been waiting for. When is it going to hit the market? Or have they said, as of yet?

samples will be sent to reviewers soon and resellers are being encouraged to contact then for pricing and info. so, once the resellers get their stock you should be able to order.

retail price is 41€ plus tax.

Well, for a minute there I thought it was all external, and seeing as my PC is right next to my Wii, this would be a dream solution. Clearly not though, it seems kinda complicated. Best to wait for an HDD loader that works with GameCube discs too if that ever happens.

Still, I've always wondered why something a simple as hooking your computer up to a console hasn't been used to mod consoles before. It seems kinda obvious, so I must be missing something.

nintendo will block this 4 sure just like the freeloader. so dont get too interested in it
just to let you know you can get around nintendo's freeloader and action replay gcn block with MIOSv4. anyways if they could prevent it, even though it would be hard to block, we could just downgrade or do part of the update :|

that's ridiculous. if they were going to do it, they would have already to block the drive chips.

get interested, this is the best thing since the wiinja deluxe

if this is for real this works some what differently than the drive chip it connects to the cables not the drive chip.
we have no idea if they can detecte it though you are right it's probably not likely they will detect it or stop it.

This is a nightmare for Nintendo to try and block, do some reading up on how it works (the wii, not flatmii) would show you how complicated this would be to block without affecting none users.

Can't wait to get one myself and build a pc around a wii

I don't know if I would build the PC around the Wii... but they would definatley be good buddies..

I have written the contact on the FlatMii site... just wish they would ask for my damn credit card number so I can get either beat or beat the Wii system...

I am willing to take that chance..

The only way Nintendo could block Flatmii is if they have the drive manufacture redesign the drive connectors... add a few dummy pins in the middle of the ribbon cable, or combine a pin or two, make them redesign the Flatmii...

Hardware mods by Nintendo is only one way to stop this, it could in theory be blocked by software, so can drive chips.

BUT.... it comes down to simple maths and money. If they block it hardware wise that only helps new Wii's not yet sold, and if they block it in software they will block others that dont use this, without a LOT of testing that would cost far too much imho. We may see things like fixes by nintendo Error03,04,05 etc but I cant see how they can keep this out.

Slimmmm, remember, thats only if I DECIDE to upgrade!

I'm fine sitting on 3.2, and if a game needs a specific IOS to load, I can easily install said IOS without upgrading my system past 3.2.

I have a Yowii, Backup Launchers, HBC, and Starfall... it's MY WII... Nintendo sold it to me, so I can do what I want with it... If I wanna use it as a marital aid, that's my perogitive... and with Wiibrater, I can too!

Oh yes a pc around it, I'm alredy looking into what other extras will go with it then
As it will be opening both pc and pc why not add every and any good mod that works, heck might get a bit inventive too

f%ck Terms of use. I live in Canada, it's not illegal to mod systems here.

Instead of the need of having a PC next to your Wii, they should make it so you can connect an USB HDD to your Wii using their device and release a HDD ISO loader channel. Now THAT would be nice, at least for me, cause my PC is very far away from my Wii.
