Hello GBATemp! I recently got a New 3DS XL for my gf, and had lots of fun (not really) doing a system transfer from the sysNAND of her O3DS to the emuNAND that I set up on her N3DS. Everything went fine and well until it completed and the N3DS restarted to complete the process. I was met with "028-3220 An Error Has Occurred". 10 restarts later I knew this wasn't going away, and she'd be pretty pissed if I lost all her save and profile data, so I went and hunted down a solution!

I noticed there is a stickied guide relating to this type of system transfer, but for those who did not see it before they got to this error code, I have a solution!

I don't take full credit for this, as I read it here and there on other boards. Before you begin, make sure your NAND's are NOT linked!:

1. On the error code, press the power button and return to the (sysNAND) home menu.

2. Turn off WiFi from the home menu options.

- (Possibly optional step? This is just what I did) Transfer all content from the old SD (given you did not format it!) to the new SD

3. Power off the 3DS, boot into emuNAND.

4. It will prompt you that you are unable to connect to complete the transfer. Continue, click no for setting up a connection, and STOP the system transfer. Don't worry - you won't lose anything!

Once you are on the home menu, simply log into the eshop with your Nintendo ID, and the system transfer will be complete!

I really hope this helps some others with this issue! :yay3ds:

This has been known for a long time, since before 9.5 at least, I advised dozens of people to do this when transferring to an emuNAND on N3DS (switch off wifi before booting into emuNAND after the transfer) but good I guess for it to be documented even more :-p

Hopefully internal storage is at least 256gb be kind of dumb to stick with 64 or lower
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    Wasn't that already confirmed?
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    Or just rumoured?
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Nothings been confirmed directly from Nintendo yet
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
I haven't been up to date tbh

I think the carts will be bigger flash size, and have a new lotus 4 protections so that can't be dumped say with a MIG dumper

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BigOnYa, That's what I was thinking before when I last mentioned the Switch 2 gamecards.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Different Lotus ASIC with additional protection which could break MIG support, larger NAND size for bigger games, etc.

  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Watch it be defeated by opening the cart
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
I wonder if there could be some denuvo on the carts
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Probably but kind of pointless it'll be a while before anyone gets any dumps out
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Iirc it was the clip thing that triggered the og exploit but now since switch 2 uses clip in pins that's out the window
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
Wasn't that fixed in the mariko and oled?
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Yeah but that's how they get dumps you need some type of cfw

  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Pin layout for carts is probably redesigned in different orders to where it wouldn't even be compatible with mig anyway

Honestly, I just want to see all the people asking how to pirate stuff that can't be pirated.

Those are the fun days. z.z

Or when people brick stuff. It's morbidly fun. z.z

Pins will be the same, will just use a different lotus protocol prob. https://gbatemp.net/threads/change-the-lotus3-gamecard-asic-ic-to-a-emmc-is-possible.637373/

  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Not believing any leaked details tell it's official Nintendo could easily swap ground to data and that'd be enough for an entire new layout

Eurovision has some pretty good songs this year. I hate how the worst possible song won for Portugal
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
this song got the most votes by the public, but none of the judges voted in favour, so she didn't win.
