OP
I'm on case 5 of Pheonix Wright - Ace Attourney.
Do I really need to play this one?
It looks really filler-ish, and this one has a lame story as far as I can tell.
Can I just skip over this one, and go to Justice For All?
Or will I miss something relevent to the story?

Nope, Case 5 of the first game was made after the first 3 games, it was only put in when the game was ported to the DS, you won't miss anything.

Indeed better play it since Ema Skye (and many other plot points probably) are connected to Apollo Justice.

Besides the case is really fun, in my opinion Turnabout Goodbyes was still better but Rise From The Ashes was amazing and pretty well done as well, definitely worth playing but it's one hell of a long case (three trials and LONG investigation days with a myriad of places to go to, people to talk to and evidence to uncover).

Go play it.

Unless Apollo Justice describes Ema Skye's background with Pheonix Wright in detail, you can't really say you won't miss anything. That is, if you plan on playing Apollo Justice. There was also touchscreen and mic features in the case. I still have 3 cases left in the third game but Case V from Ace Attorney has been my favorite in all 3 games.

Indeed, you won't find a better case than Turnabout Goodbyes and Rise From The Ashes in JFA so might as well enjoy the greatness of the first game while you can. The last case in JFA is kind of interesting but in my opinion still not as good as case 4 and 5 of the first game.

Plus the music... I was so disappointed at first but the you kind of get used to it and forget how good the music in the first game is... until of course you replay it and everything gets into perspective back again. JFA is definitely the weakest of the series, from the very beginning of the game, it starts to disappoint (all I need to say is: Phoenix's amnesia) but it's still pretty fun to play.

OP
I heard so many bad things about JFA that I didn't want to even try.
But then one of my friends told me that there's a woman who whips everyone.
Dominatrix, anyone?

THAT and because I didn't want a big fat plot hole.

JFA's final case is, IMO, one of the most epic cases in the entire series.

People who've played it should know why I think this.

Yeah it's pretty good and pretty interesting as well.

It was pretty interesting seeing Phoenix act like a prosecutor, using every dirty trick and using his wit to gain more time, it was definitely nice however it's kind of disencouraging to think for answers because you already know the truth so by the end you mostly just want to see the story.
