Hacking Firelink skins do not work!

I have been trying to change the background on my firelink menu. I have tried copying the files to DSYSTEM folder but nothing happens - also tried copying a Skin folder but that did not work either. The file size is correct and I have changed the names to desktop.bmp and c_file.bmp. dunno what else to try - my version is 2.54 could I be missing some software?

Any ideas ???

give me your e-mail address, and ill send you my global.ini file, because apache thunder fixed mine so it would work with skins. thats probably whats wrong with yours too. so just overwrite my global.ini file with mine that i will send you
