I'm new to the psp, from reading various guides and forums I've downgraded my 2003 to 6.20 and installed a CFW and can now run everything fine.

My first question is this, now that you can sign homebrew, can you run it on an unmodified 3000/E1000 by just putting it on the memory stick in the right folder and running it from the menu?

Secondly, is it now possible to downgrade past the firmware that came on the psp? So you could put a permanent hack onto a 3000/E1000? Most of the guides are out of date so I can't find clear answers!

Thanks,
Rob

Downgrading to firmware earlier than what a system original had turns it into a brick. Don't do it. Spend 4 seconds after a full boot and have 6.60 CFW to use.

As for the homebrew signing, I don't think it works with all homebrew, but yes, you can run it on any system after it is signed.

The stickies here are up to date for their methods.

Yes homebrew can be run like that, but not all homebrew can be signed in the first place.

Later 6.60 PSP 3000s can actually downgrade due to lots of technical shit... but it's not recommended, at least by me. Stick with the temp versions of PRO.

Thanks for that, I was unsure if the CFW now being signed made a difference to being able to go below the original version.

While you read the stickies, could you run PSPIdent 0.74.2 and tell us which motherboard version the E1000 has? (this homebrew shows you the idstring a PSP motherboard has)

(do all this once you got the temporal cfw, and running homebrew)

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
