The fakedetector is saying that my cart is fake even though I got it months before the first fakes and have been running the 1.16 firmware for a while now. I'd say that it doesn't detect the older carts accurately.

What chip did it say your TTDS has?

BTW when it says 'True' that means it's real.

ok additional discovery with another TTDS fake that was brought to me today to fix or try fix .....

testing the card (obvious fake signs on the board GOLD DOT )

Turning my ds lite on the card wasnt even recognised by the ds no matter how may times it was reinserted or restarted!

tested in PHAT ds still the same!

DEAD CARD
frown.gif

so a bit of messing about and testing followed ...

load TTDS FAKE TESTER on M3 REAL card swap to busted not recognized TTDS card result NOT EVEN DETECTED!

load TTDS RECOVERY swap to none working card again not recognized
frown.gif

same situation with second recovery release TTDS FLASH WRITER not recognized

then a brainwave struck me ...load recovery program swap in a REAL TTDS card and swap immediately after it was detected to fake card in the hope it would just flash the broken card on the fly ..result message ERASE ERROR ...

not going well here .....

so carried on testing trying to get busted card to even boot no result ..

second brainwave hit me load fake recovery software to mem card load REAL TTDS card then swap to busted card before loading the recovery program from the TTDS menu ...

nothing .... it just hung for a while and did nothing no loading progress bar just the loading dots on the left of the loading bar ....

so ..... turned the ds off with the busted card in there and turned it back on immediately ... and HEY PRESTO the familiar TTDS logo ... and it booted! whooooooooooooot!

ran the recovery restored the 1.15 non bricker kernel and it fully works again now

Yes, just use this firmware and you should be safe whether your DSTT is real or fake: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=2872

If your DSTT isn't working and you suspect that it's been destroyed by the fake-killer firmware, you need to determine if it's fake and then run the FakeRecovery program on it (it's in the same archive as the FakeDetector program linked to above). After you recover a destroyed fake, put the "safe" firmware on it so it doesn't get destroyed again.

If you can open yours up, you can check to see if it's a fake by comparing it to the ones here: http://www.ndstt.com/anti_fake.html

If you can't open it up, you can try running the FakeDetector program on it here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=4086

Either way, you should be safe if you run this firmware: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=2872

testing it now

edit SO FAR SO GOOD!

no issues as yet ...fake killer usually kicks in at about 2nd or 4th reboot this as survived 10 or more...

It loads 2838 which 1.16 is supposed to fix !? (not even sure what the issue was with 2838? don't read JAP lol)

I wanted you to test this one: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zmzydmwmnjz

Not the one I linked to in the post you quoted (that's just the "safe" version of 1.15).

I wanted you to confirm that (1) it's 1.16 (it should say so on the screen), and (2) that it won't kill a fake (it's supposed to have the fake-killer code disabled).

No, that's not the same software that's on the video. That's some homebrew that someone wrote to detect fakes (the one in the video on the ndstt website is some software that the DSTT team wrote to demonstrate their fake-killer code).

It's probably real if FakeDetector said that it is, although that program has given false positives if it can't read the flash cart or doesn't recognize it.

Your best bet is to open it up and take a look inside. If you can't tell, post a picture of the insides here and we'll help you determine if it's real. You can sometimes tell without opening up the flash cart. Take a look at this post: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?s=&showto...t&p=1584543

Cool, thanks kobykaan. If you don't run into any problems with it, I'll post it to the download area.

By the way, any idea what this does: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?w2tjjoyj2gz

More information is available on the following thread, but I still can't figure out what it's supposed to do (and my DSTT isn't in working condition): http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=125946

its version 3 of the flash recovery nds file Bri (although still needs the .bin file from the first release) it recovers more chips apparently they used at least 30 - 40 different types of chips in the variants of clones !? ... their codes are listed on the other thread v3 recovery program recovers all those variants so far
smile.gif

can you not recover yer TTDS using another slot 1 ds card just remember you need the TTDS.BIN file in the root along with the DSTTFLASHWRITER.nds v3 release ...

executing the nds file on another card prompts you to switch cards to the killed fake ....

once its swapped you press A and it re writes the fakes internal memory with the original data from the bin (its loaded temporary to ds memory) so you can use 1.15 again or the newly discovered 1.16 none killer kernel

So I have the following files:

FakeRecovery.nds
DsttFlashWriter.nds
DsttFlashWriter.nds (v2)
DsttFlashWriter.nds (v3)

Are these all different versions of the same application?
