Hello!
I had bought two EZ Flash Definitive editions. I also have modified two GBAs with the following same mods;
GBA-1
- IPS screen
- 1200mAH rechargeable battery
- EZ Flash Definitive Edition (EZFD#1)
- Samsung EVO 64GB Micro SD
GBA-2
- IPS screen
- 1200mAH rechargeable battery
- EZ Flash Definitive Edition (EZFD#2)
- Samsung EVO 64GB Micro SD
GBA-1 and GBA-2 had no issues when I first ran them with their own respective EZFD (EZ Flash Definitive Edition). I then decided to upgrade EZFD#2 to the latest firmware and kernel (FW:4 K:1.03). After this upgrade GBA-2 with EZFD#2 crashed within an hour of playing. I tried with fully charged battery and with fully charged battery and having it plugged in while playing; still crashed.
I then swapped EZFD carts between GBA-1 and GBA-2. The freezing problem followed the cart. Now the freezing is happening with GBA-1 instead of GBA-2; GBA-2 plays for hours without freezing.
It seemed that EZFD#2 is the problem.
I then swapped only the Micro SD card between EZFD#1 and EZFD#2. Upon testing the problem stayed with EZFD#2 in GBA-1. Just to confirm I then swapped the carts one more time between GBA-1 and GBA-2 and the problem again followed EZFD#2.
After my thorough troubleshooting the following was determined;
(Testing was always done with "Megaman Battle Network 3: White")
- Freezing always happens within an hour.
- Swapping MicroSD and GBA did not matter. The freezing always followed EZFD#2 cart.
- Issue only started happening after upgrading to FW:4 K:1.03
- If I were to upgrade the non-freezing EZFD#1 cart I believe the freezing issue will start.
Possible Fixes:
- Is there any way to downgrade Firmware and/or Kernel?
- Release multiple "Test" firmware update that has some changes reverted to allow us to try and see if the old settings fix the freezing issue.
Please let me know if there is any additional information you need from me.
Thank you!
