4 hour battery life? Games that a PSP, or even a ds could run, via emulation? Neat in concept, but especially for that price, I really cant see this doing too well... theres a difference between releasing an SNES mini, and releasing... this... meh.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Why not publish all of those classic games on the current platforms instead
Would definitely sell more that way...

I thought this was some sort of mini console with the games hard-modded into the system

Been awhile since I read about this thing. Last I heard it has the same specs as the R97s and the LDK. Only with double the ram. Hope I fix’it tears it apart and confirms it’s specs

didn't capcom licensed fba but the drama was that not everyone inside the fba team agreed on that??
at least that's the last I heard of that.
IDK there was a huge mess is all I know.

The problem is that FBA didn't reassign copyright for commits (there's no contribution agreement), so technically every person responsible for code maintains the rights over the portions they added. The primary developer "licensed" it to capcom - and he doesn't have the right to speak on behalf of all the other copyright holders for relevant code portions. Thus, the controversy.

Yeah, a hacked Vita can play most if not all the games this thing does.

Heck a hacked PSP can probably do it.

Yes, there are many "hacked" devices that can do this, but some people 1) like to buy "official" products instead of illegal modded systems and 2) don't know how to mod things or may not even know modded systems exist.
Of course if you are on a website like gbatemp then you most likely know how to get modded systems or know how to mod them yourself. "Modders" like us are a small community in comparison to the people that collect and play video games worldwide. The fact that companies are trying to release a legal "official" release of retro games should be commended/applauded.

Because what you are proposing is actually illegal

The problem ia that this is not Sega Genesis Mini, but a generic hardware that will just have a bunch of games and charge money for each 20 year old something game like it was something new.

You can legally buy a lot of old games, yes even Sega Genesis games, using Steam. Then get a gamepad for PC and play them in your PC.

Also, most of these games were not made with minuscule screens in mind. Is one thing to play Earth Worm Jim using a TV and a different one using a portable console.

These are direct ports so is gonna suck because they are not adapted for a small screen.

I agree there are better ways to play old games, but hey, it could be useful for some people
Also, I think it's 20 bucks for a cartridge with many games in it, 20 for a single one seems to expensive to me

Don't you just love it when groups/devs do things that others don't agree on? Maybe the one who decided to license it shouldn't have been such a turd and actually discussed it.

I would like a Predator game "Kill Team" it takes place in the Jungle of the first movie, your team is sent to hunt the predator, using current tech drones and a trained team. Set traps use strategy to hunt and trap or kill the predator.

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Sounds like it would be an exciting ride....

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
He ruined it basically. Sad cause it was a decent old bike. It would take more money to rewire the bike than it was worth tho.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
