There comes a time in everyone's life where they need to sit down and just... get it out of their system. Some people get a quick game in. Many people think the idea is shit (pun intended), but gamers I've talked to will not let such details as nature or public transportation (next thread!) get in their way.

The best games to play on the toilet are not "shit" games or shovel ware, but they're not necessarily the most acclaimed games either. Several qualities can make certain games great bathroom companions, and some otherwise great games not so much so.
I'll rate and detail the categories of <b>Accessibility</b>, the game's pick-up-and-go nature,<b> Conductivity</b>, how well it suits the bathroom, <b>Controls,</b> for those sitting down of course, and<b> Saving</b> ability, which is key to the restroom gaming experience. Disregard saving ability if you use a cart with working realtime save. For those briefing over I'll also rate them with some colors: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->green<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> for the best, <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro-->blue<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> for passable, and <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->red<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> for not good. I'll also try to throw in another <b>Pro</b> and <b>Con</b>. Boxart courtesy of GBAtemp of course.

<b><!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Picross DS<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--></b>
<img src="http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/HeranBago/go1956.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

The self-professed "new old sudoku". Man has been playing pen-and-paper/newspaper games like crossword puzzles since the dawn of time, and their amazing portability has lead to many-a bathroom sessions. In the early '00s sudoku saw a huge boost in popularity, and cranking out simple number puzzles while cranking out the turds just seems... right. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picross" target="_blank">Picross/Nanograms</a> go way back, and the Nintendo DS's premier Picross title remains faithful with many new twists. However I'm not counting the amazing wifi features or puzzle creation, I'm just talking discussing things in terms of bathroom friendliness.

<b>Accessibility: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Wonderful!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
The game is easy to turn on and get going! It checks for suspended game data off the bat. The game is also relatively easy to learn, and is a cinch for anyone experienced with other numbers games like sudoku.

<b>Conductivity: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Wonderful!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
The game has different tile themes which are all very clean. Small number thinking puzzles are also perfect for the crapper!

<b>Controls: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Great!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
There are two control schemes, one holding the buttons and tapping the screen and the other one choosing your tool and tapping/sliding. Either is very conducive to the game, and gives plenty of time to mull the board over.

<b>Saving at any time: <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro-->Check!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Suspend data, so one at a time.

<b>Pro:</b> Nifty animation when you finish a puzzle. Tee-hee!
<b>Con:</b> Takes a bit of time to get used too.

<b><!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Tetris DS<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--></b>
<img src="http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/HeranBago/go953.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

The DS port of Alexey Pajitnov's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetris" target="_blank">Тетрис</a> needs no introduction.

<b>Accessibility: <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro-->Great!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
EVERYONE knows Tetris. I personally find it can take too many menus to get to what you want. There are a lot of game modes though and they're all good enough. If you've finished marathon, there's a good chance your interest in a match will wane when your session's done. Otherwise you'll find yourself done in the bathroom and still going strong in Tetris.

<b>Conductivity: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->The Best?<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Dropping and erasing bricks while dropping and erasing bricks just feels so... right.

<b>Controls: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Great!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
What do you expect?

<b>Saving at any time: <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->Nope<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Aww...

<b>Pro:</b> Everyone loves tetris.
<b>Con:</b> Matches often last longer than your bathroom session.

<b><!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--></b>
<img src="http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/HeranBago/go2951.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

The Mystery Dungeon is the de-facto in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rougelike" target="_blank">Rougelikes</a> by Chunsoft. You know, like Pokemon/Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon. This one's a bit tough, but it's deep.

<b>Accessibility: <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro-->Meh.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
In all honesty, this game is just too difficult for casual gamers. It's fine for those dedicated enough to take the DS to the toilet though. It could also take someone's who's never played a Mystery Dungeon game some time to pick up.

<b>Conductivity: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Great!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Rougelikes are balls-hard, planning, thinking, macho games. Go at the pace you want, and plan your moves carefully.

<b>Controls: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Yay!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Touch screen controls or buttons. You choose!

<b>Saving at any time: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Oh yeah!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Totally!

<b>Pro:</b> Has a naming command! Eliminates all need for paper.
<b>Con:</b> TOO HARD.

<b><!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Advance Wars<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--></b>
<img src="http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/HeranBago/go643.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /><img src="http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/HeranBago/go2800.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /><img src="http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n198/HeranBago/go2804.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

How could I make this post without a true tactical strategy game? The Advance Wars games by Intelligent Systems are wonderful restroom companions.

<b>Accessibility: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Sexy.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
It's quick to get started, and easy to learn.

<b>Conductivity: <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro-->Really Good!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
No pressure to hurry up. Great pacing too.

<b>Controls: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Perfecto!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Touch screen controls or buttons. Both are perfect!

<b>Saving at any time: <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro-->Usually<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Any time it's your turn or between missions.

<b>Pro:</b> Fun to watch the exchange of fire. Characters and stories aren't bad.
<b>Con:</b> You can finish up on the toilet and have to wait for an enemy phase or cutscene to end.

<b>Accessibility: <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro-->Good<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Some won't take much to do, some would require you to do much, but still okay

<b>Conductivity: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Very Good<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
No pressure to hurry up. Great pacing too.

<b>Controls: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Very Good<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
The controls are perfect, of course, they're better when you're free

<b>Saving at any time: <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->None<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
It's a finish it or quit it game

<b>Pro:</b> How else can you do Magic Tricks while doing no.2? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Certainly is not a boring game, especially if you just got it
<b>Cons:</b> Can't save, that's it, really, but sleep-mode can help you.

<b>Conductivity: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Very Good<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
The Worms are cute, and their speech sometimes invites smile in your face, especially English and American speech

<b>Controls: <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Very Good!<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
No touch screen, but who needs it for Worms?

<b>Saving at any time: <!--coloro:#0000FF--><span style="color:#0000FF"><!--/coloro-->None<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
It doesn't have save feature. But the game will only last around 5 minutes with beginner mode (default with QuickGame, it only affects which weapons available and their supply). Perfect amount of time to finish no.2, you obviously won't play while finishing no.1, will you?

<b>Pro:</b> A cute and great game, Worms get its famous name not for nothing, and is not boring
<b>Con:</b> No save feature, it's finish it or quit it

What do you think? Any categories or games I totally missed?
Any that are properly done I'll add to this list... maybe. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

^^^ Not comprehensive enough for my tastes. =P

Oh yeah! Worms Open Warefare 2 is perfect! I think Etrian Odyssey and Orcs and Elves are good ones too, and are easier to pick up than Shiren... Maybe tomorrow.

Hmm... Etrian Odyssey 2, not a good game for toilet IMO, true, you can map the floor while sitting, but for some people, (well, maybe just for me) it can be boring, and your taste for no.2 may be lowered a bit.

Also, it takes too many actions not really simple, although it's pretty simple, you know what I mean? Like Cooking Mama, your hands moves too much, and you ended up concentrating on the game, not your toilet business

Also, a suggestion, maybe Brain type games shouldn't be displayed here, it takes too many concentration, and the result is just like above

Contra 4
go2432.png

In celebration of Contra's 20th anniversary Konami has put WayForward in charge of producing Contra 4, it's classic Contra 2D side-scrolling action, huge boss battles, a wide variety of effects, 4 characters to choose from, 9 stages, 5 different power-ups and addictive and incredibly addictive, swear-inducing trademark Contra gameplay. Contra 4 also features excellent renditions of Contra and Super C, a challenge mode and a Contra museum among other things. New additions to the series include a grappling hook (that's used for platforming and combat alike) and action spanning both screens of the Nintendo DS. A faithful sequel to Contra III: The Alien Wars.

Accesibility: Great!
The menu comes up quickly and the game starts as soon as you select "Start Game" and lets you resume your previous game, even if you ran out of battery or just powered the DS off. While the game is a little hard, I found it's still a blast to play since it can be played in quick bouts. Easy Mode is a lot more accesible (and kind of more fun) since it gives you more lives and continues and gives you level 2 weapons right off the bat but keeps level design (almost) intact. Once you unlock Challenge Mode, it's the perfect "crapper" companion and going through the bonus content (the museum and such) is also fitting for a bathroom experience.

Conductivity: Good
Some of the levels in this game can require more than a little attention which might work against the otherwise relaxing bathroom experience, for this reason Easy mode is recommended as the powered up weapons and extra flexibility in lives makes it a much more relaxed game but it does let you pause ANY time. Conductivity is Best! when reading through the museum.

Controls: Great!
It doesn't use the touchscreen so you won't be sliding out the stylus uncomfortably mid-session and the button controls actually go very well with the bathroom experience.

Saving: Good
While the game allows you to pause anytime and suspends your game when you quit, you do lose one continue and you have to start the stage over so it's not exactly a seamless suspend experience, it's better than restarting from level one though.

Pro: The game is incredibly fun and addictive, amazing 2D action.
Con: The game might be too hard for some, even in Easy mode.

There, I saved you the trouble of formatting, I really think Contra 4 is amazing for the bathroom but I tried to be a little more objective for those who might not be too familiar with Contra.
