espeak DS BETA 9/1/09
NEW NDS Homebrew
dslite.jpg

ESpeak is a voice synthesizer which has been ported to the NDS. The current BETA software can only generate .WAV files. Please see below for more information.

Change Log said:
• get rid of warnings
• add an option to decide between 8bit or 16bit
• add an option to decide between 22050 or 11025 Hz (or even lower, but then it sound REALY shitty)
• removed the usual main() function with the getopt stuff and instead did a ES_InitCFG function
• stdout is used during the writing process to get the stuff into the buffer (added a io handler)!

Hm, I realy need to write things more clear x/

espeak is an open source speech synthesizer - usualy running on a computer.
When compiling the 'original' sources on devkitarm it only can generate .wav files (...there is no sound-driver interface or whatever on the DS ^^").

In this demo I made some changes + added some functions to espeak that make it easy to generateraw-sounds that then can be played directly on the DS. And of course I released the source... just a binary speaking out 5 sentences would be realy dumb.

Btw. it's no beta :/ It's a Demo / PoC. I hope someone may find an use for text-speech in his homebrew so that we will have homebrews directly speaking with you ^^

Just posting the NDS file makes no sense xP There is a reason I posted it on a dev-forum

Do I need to have an account on the PAlib forums in order to download the source? I'm interested in taking a look at it, but I don't see a download link from the post.
