Dunno how complex that would be. Since if you're using private dumps in a smart way you'd never have to use it two times at once.

Are you saying that people can just restore a NAND backup of their system? Has anyone tried?
hmm, you mean a NAND backup before the ban? haven't heard anyone try...
I thought they banned NNID

From what's going around they are banning the hardware. Otherwise if it was just a NNID ban you can just unlink and create a new one. So I don't see any way to fix it that doesn't involve swapping boards. In fact we also don't know if it works if you use your NNID on another console once banned.

It is starting to seem that the ban is based on the users 3DS MAC Address, so restoring NANDs will do zilch

Yeah that's about what I gathered. Still wondering if people who were banned are able to play in local games.

It makes sense it's a MAC ban as that is what Nintendo did to Wii systems for cheating in MKWii and such. As far as local goes it should work as it is not accessing any kind of network. I'd love to know 100% though.

Again, maybe someone will figure out how to spoof the 3DS MAC and people can get unbanned. MAC were able to be spoofed on Wii back when it mattered.

I mean two games played at different times.

you mean use the same private header for different games online, and they could then see that header A is used on both games B and C.
however that would require them to log each game played on each system..

right now it seems to me they do it the other way around, check all online headers then if one of them is a confirmed scene header, ban the console that is currently playing with that header

Strange. On my Retail copy of Pokemon Omega Ruby, if I try using the Mystery Gift I get the error when I select "Get with code" but if I select "Get Via Internet" it doesn't give me the error. It just says "There were no gifts to be found..." So I assume it actually connects and looks for a gift but because there aren't any events going on right now it returns with that.

So this seems to be the second game where you can still receive events/gifts online. (Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Pokemon ORAS)

Can't really test or check this any further until there's an actual Wifi event going on though.

There is an event it's a samurott or something and I can't access it the error pops up, try it though. The codes on serebii somewhere.

Yeah you need to enter the event code under "Get With Code" but we can't due to the error coming up.

Also checked Pokemon X, and Alpha Sapphire. Same thing happens.

Being one of the banned, i tested with my friend to play Mario Kart 7, Super Smash Bros and Pokemon ORAS in "Local Multiplayer" and it's work fine.

My friend has the same config (Gateway, sysNAND 4.5, emuNAND 9.5, .3DZ with public header) and the online still work ...

There's no predicting when a ban will strike. We still don't know if Nintendo keeps a list of public headers and bans them when detected, or bans when they detect one header being used by two people online at the same time, or what. You should encourage him to use private headers if its an option, because we simply don't have enough information to skirt Nintendo's banning system yet.

Yes, Omega Ruby don't need header to receive gift by internet unlike Pokemon X/Y that need a valid header to receive gift by internet.

;)

I wouldn't know how to without updating the sysnand

What about on EmuNand 4.5 or 8.1 ? If 4.5 doesn't let you do stuff without updating. Update your EmuNand to 8.1 using the ROM method and check.

My point is to check whether there is any internal code they've introduced in any FW versions used to ban the console or is it completely from Nintendo's server side.

Is anyone that hasn't been banned able to connect to anything online? I'm getting error code 001-0811 when I try to do some online features. Tried Pokémon Bank, Pokémon Omega Ruby (legit cart, Gateway Classic Mode), and Friends List. eShop works, though. Nintendo.com says this error code has to do with Friends List maintenance, but their network status page says everything is online and working normally? I've never used a .3dz file before so never messed with any header stuff. I'm in the US, emuNAND 9.5. Played .3ds ROMs before, though, but I can't recall if I ever took any of them online.

Edit: After further testing, it seems it MIGHT be a false alarm. Miiverse works, but according to the Pokémon Global Link website, maintenance is taking place today:

Routine maintenance of the Pokémon Global Link will occur during the times shown below.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but during this period you will not be able to access the following services:
・All services on the Pokémon Global Link website
・Features related to Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, including
--Game Sync
--Rating Battles

EDT: Monday 8:00 p.m. to midnight / EST: Monday 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
BST: Tuesday 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. / GMT: Midnight Mon–Tue to Tuesday 4:00 a.m.
CEST: Tuesday 2:00 a.m. to 6 a.m. / CET: Tuesday 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.
AEST: Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. / AEDT: Tuesday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Still, that doesn't really explain the Friends List not showing, and it's not quite 7:00PM EST, but I might just wait until tomorrow to confirm anything.

He can't because he would have to update his sysnand, and he's not willing to risk it.

Thanks bud, that's some important information.

Are you sure there's nothing wrong on your end? Bad network connection maybe? Try it using another access point. Because that code doesn't seem to be the one that people are getting.
