Again, it's not a MAC ban, it's the physical console as a whole.

But, yes, the most effective way not to get banned is using your own legit carts or digital purchases in an unmodified console...

it's not just that..I have CIA's...but I choose to not go online with EMUNAND with them, I have a retail cart of smash to go online.

retail = online
pirate = 3DZ / CIA.

It's really that simple. No mucking around with headers, ROM patching or spoofing required

So far, yes. Let's hope Ninty doesn't ever go as far as checking offline for pirate CIAs or mismatched 3DZ headers... :ph34r:

So it's life a pir8 sure got his money's worth and he always knew there were risks can't really complain.

Exactly, you live and die by the flag haha. I am always very aware of the risks that come with it but I take all precautions in the World to prevent things from happening, I avoided all the ban waves M$ was throwing at the time of 2010-2013.

Majority of members don't seem to think that way.

Well look at the bright side if they do they'll just block you from playing online, which you weren't doing to begin with lol.

Wait, so should I name all my non-online 3DS ROMS, .3DZ?

My understanding is consoles are getting banned because people are just using wrong (public) headers.

So if you want to play online, just buy retail copies, or dump your own copy, and don't buy preowned games. You never know if the preowner uses the headers or not.

yes but I still have legal carts of games such as Smash Bros that i would maybe like to go online with.

since i've gotten my Gateway and set up 9.2 EMUNAND I haven't gone online (even on a retail cart) for fears such as this

Considering how much a legit retail card costs then a safe plan of action would be getting some old 2nd hand small 3ds for backups and staying legit on your main one.

I have always done this just to be safer as possible.
What?! Uhm no. 3DS files cannot go online on the GW, 3DZ files can (if they have a header). How could you think renaming them to 3DZ would be safer?

3DZ's are specifically for going on-line and you should only rename your 3DS files to 3DZ if you have injected a header or dumped them yourself w/ the GW launcher. If a game has no on-line functionality there is zero reason to inject a header or rename it to 3DZ... And it is in no way safer (or more dangerous for that matter) if that ROM lacks online anyway.

Has there been any report on a ban on 3DS currently using legit cards but has used Sky3ds cards and connected to the Internet before?

Of course I have injected the headers in all roms. Another good reason is that I don't want to check everytime If the game I want to play has online or not, so I "patch" them all.
