Hacking Emunand Saves and Removal

I have recently made an emunand partition on my gateway 3ds. Since this is of no use at the moment to me, I have tried to remove emunand as I wanted to use the sysnand instead.

If I format the SD Card and remove the emunand partition, I keep getting a black screen when booting into gateway mode. The only way to fix this is to format the emunand partition again. Is there anyway round this?

If I have to stick with emunand, is it possible to still use the saves from my SD Card? Ive just tried Pokemon and it does not seem to be loading?

Pokemon saves inside the Rom, not on the SD card, also you Need to use a partition manager to remove emunand, just formatting the SD doesn't remove it

Any saves made in emunand should work even if you remove emunand
