Does anybody have knowledge of this, or recall a previous post? Or is anybody willing to investigate?
I wanted to see if the snapshots of the HOME menu could be edited and still recognised by the 3DS as such. I've been able to match the compression type, retain/update Exif data including the embedded thumbnail, and use the proper file-naming convention.
None of that was even needed in order the view the image on the 3DS, but my goal was to have software that looks specifically for HOME menu images to be able to load it. So far, no luck.
It seems like those snapshots are all accompanied by 32-byte .BIN files, which may be checksums and are probably the key here, but I have no idea how to tell or figure it out.
