So i got a Wii with the serial of: LU7 and I wanted to get it "hacked"
The settings menu shows version 4.1u

I ran through this guide: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=168890

I got HomeBrew and BootMii (< it only allowed it to be installed as an IOS?)
DVDX is installed

I went through the process of: Patching IOS36
I went through: Installing PreLoader and new cIOS
Then for the backup launcher part i put NeoGamma R6 on my sd card and ran that and got the error: DVD Error 972
When i ran R7 i got the DVD error 1101

I did everything exactly the way it was written. I have 2 dvds burned on sony DVD-r disks at 2x and 4x and a verbatim DVD-R at 8x and none work. Always get that error. I use my Dell XPS 1340 laptop to burn using IMGBURN software.
Any ideas on what to do?

dvd-r support is taken out of the drive firmware of those serials I think.

Try a usb loader, it runs better than shitty 3x disc reading speeds to begin with.

You probably have a Wii with the new D3-2 drive. It cannot read burned discs.

Only way to tell for sure is to open up the Wii and look at unfortunately.

Have you got a flash drive or USB drive you can try a USB loader on? If you can load from USB, but cannot load burned games, its a sure bet you have a D3-2.

Right after i started this topic i started deep searching more for the hard drive method since i have a few big externals laying around. Found a independent usb and tried it out with WBFS and cloader (loadstructor i think?) and it works like a charm!!!

Thanks for all the help guys!

now to clean up that sd card with the 1000 tools i tried using.
