I was thinking that the ievo has a compatibility layer for DSi mode. The DSi has an ARM cpu. The 3DS has a ARM cpu as well. WAY WAY more powerfull and more memory. Thinking just now that the ievo should get a 3DS compatibility Layer! and that would make DSx86 fly!
Windows XP by DSx86 or even DSlinux by DSx86. I know it sounds like "OMG DUDE YOU ARE RETARDED." but at this rate homebrew is going this could be very very possible. It would need what? libnds to be updated with for 3DS hardware. DSx86 recompiled. = 3DSx86.
Sounds wierd but very plausible.

There will not be native 3DS homebrew using proper 3DS hardware for a LONG time. Even 3DS mode were cracked within the next few months (highly unlikely, look at the DSi, and Nintendo will only have improved things since then), it'd take months or years before a proper homebrew SDK is put together with half decent hardware support.

i don't see why he wouldn't work on the 3ds
he ported dsx86 even on supercard due to better performance
if not him, someone else
there's a lot more than commander keen i wanna play on the 3ds
happy.gif

and the hardware itself is very attractive for a dos emulator

What about people jumping down each other's throats concerning something unknown is making sense to you?

you cant just hack it with a pencil and paper

there was interest in using the sd slot of the dsi but it still took like 2 years to hack it

u were emphasizing it by saying that he will port it

how is he supposed to port it without the 3ds hacked?

OMG DUDE YOU ARE RETARDED.

Not only 3DS would need to be hacked - a completely new libnds would need to be written. And this might not even be possible, as Nintendo is not using off-the-shelf ARM processors this time, but a completely proprietary, custom System-On-a-Chip solution. How can you code for an unknown hardware ? We don't even know if it's ARM9, ARM11 or whatever... how many cores... how does it communicate with GPU... nothing. We can only count on some licensed 3DS game developer to anonymously leak these details.

While x86 emulation is not a bad idea (I'd prefer a DOSBox port though due to better compatibility), running Windows XP or Linux on a mobile game console is totally useless and a waste of homebrewers' time.

Yeah, I agree with what pachura said, but I'll also add that running Linux using DSx86 is damn stupid because Linux is able to run on ARM architecture without any emulation, so using an emulator is pointless and will result in major slowdowns.

i'm aware of the difficulty in hacking the dsi
s a member before: jumping on my throat won't solve anything, not everyone is a nab here

what i said is that if he can why wouldn't he port it?
y, indeed i just said that it is hacked already by a wrench and a screwdriver

anw, afaik this is just about the dos port and not about how the 3ds is hacked and is in possible
what i'm saying is that it's likely to come on the 3ds in time
