Does Moonshell work for you two?
If not, then there must be some defective file in the MicroSD which might affect the SC2 video player too.
Try transferring all the files you have on your SD to the computer except for the system files (and the video player plug-in), and after that, try booting the video player.
If it boots, then start transferring the files back slowly to figure out what the cause is.

Mp4 Video didn't show up (640x480). Avi showed up but hung on loading (320x240). So ...this has been a pretty worthless experience for me. I understand I could fiddle with settings, formats etc. and get things to work -- but is it worth it? This was supposed to be user-friendly. I guess I'm just spoiled by my computer, you know, double-click and and stuff just works.

In the end, I guess I just got what I paid for.

Custom skin doesn't change a thing. Resetting to the default skin is the first thing I tried, but it didn't change a thing (well, except the skin of course, but you know what I mean). Besides, how could the visual layout of a menu have any impact on an application loading or not? That's like saying a certain computer application won't run if you aren't using the default background, which clearly makes no sense whatsoever. :l

A problem with videos is that most people who convert/rip anime and shit don't know what they're doing (to be blunt) and don't know the difference between an extension, container, and actual video codec...

While computer programs can detect and fix these mistakes, small devices aren't nearly as powerful and aren't as forgiving.

I got it to work...
I always extract everything(roms, firmwares, apps, etc) to one folder
but instead of extracting dstwo_iplayer_v1.0_eng to that location, I open it, than drag and drop _ds2video and _dstwoplug onto desktop

Than I made a _dstwoplug folder in root(because I deleted mine when using iMenu)
set the path to file=/_dstwoplug/movie.plg

now it works..this is weird, I'm not sure if drag and drop fixed it or if it was putting the movie.plg in _dstwoplug that fixed it

How many plug-ins are you using?
Try deleting a few (or transfer them to your PC) and try again.

The video player is not a magical solution to any prior video player on the DS, which are few. It just makes video playback easier by not having to convert files that already work on it. If a video doesn't play, then the video itself could possibly be fixed (as the example in my last post shows). If that doesn't work, then you'll have to resort to converting, which btw, is better than prior DPG encoding because of the more widely available formats that can be encoded faster.
