I don’t want smooth. I want sharp 1:1 pixels, the intended experience.

You might like the smooth, but it’s clearly blurry to me. I don’t recommend anybody play like this when the DSi XL exists, and is so cheap to buy.

Depends on how they are pricing them. I remember the DSi systems went for nearly 50 quid back then, but the price is beginning to slow down and it's a lot cheaper. I can say that the price is comparable to a DS Lite. So if you want to use the DSi's exclusive features and are willing to run all of your games on an SD card, go for a DSi, I totally recommend it than a DS lite imo.

The only thing a DS Lite is even good for is pocketability, which is a very good feature, tbh, just not as appealing as the huge screens on a DSi XL. And I don't think the Lite has IPS either.

Screens don't bother me. I don't mind if it's IPS or LCD, as long as it ain't broken, which is a thing when you're buying DS's second-hand. Not a fan of huge screens either, only at the same resolution that it was meant to be.

Honestly the chonky pixels on the DSi just make everything look more DS-y, which I like. The DS has the best 3D graphics out there [stylistically].

It’s not hard to guess which is which. Playing DS games on 3DS is a significant downgrade.

For sure the left is from DSI xl and the right is 3DS.

On the picture from left I can see pixels. Is that view during playing on dsi xl?

Left is DS and right is 3DS. The pixels are sharp, they are much blurrier on the 3DS. Don't let a "smooth" image fool you, it's blur not an increase of resolution.
