Way off in which sense? I hope you mean that it would take a lot longer time than a thousand years... because when I say a thousand years I really mean we're lucky like winning the lottery. Otherwise, I suggest you log off and move to another forum that welcomes retards. A computer that is able to handle a million key attempts a second would take significantly longer than the age of the universe to crack a 128 bit encryption (obviously depends on your encryption algorithm, we should assume it is coded properly, not by idiots).
EDIT: I think some of you are confused with cracking a 128 bit wireless network and cracking a 128 bit encryption key. They are worlds apart.
I think you don't realize how many computers there are in the world, as well as the speed of some of the supercomputers around the world.
I think you are the one who has no idea. You should really try to get some understanding into encryption and possible mathematics before you talk anymore. There is no way in hell that all the computers in the world (including supercomputers, cpus on all electrical appliances) TODAY can even attempt to break a 128 bit encryption key in less than a few thousand years and that's if we're extremely lucky.

That's 20 quadrillion calculations per second. That's 20*(10^15) per second!
The number of combinations in a 128 bit encryption key: 2^128
Let's say we have 1 BILLION of these supercomputers. Are you happy with that figure? One BILLION supercomputers that's 1 supercomputer for every 7 people on earth, roughly.
Assuming one calculation on the super computer is able to attempt one key combination and verify that attempt. Now let's calculate.
(2^128)/((20^16)*(10^9)) = 1.7*10^13 seconds
Translated into years: 539514
Assuming we have a BILLION of these supercomputers at the moment it will still take us about half a million years. Now go back to where ever you came from and next time if you have no idea about something, don't say anything. Thank you.
Edit: I was actually way off target. It would take probably a lot more than a thousands to break even with extreme luck.
