Whichever you feel like buying. How are we supposed to know which one you like more?

What a pointless thread

If you need reasons to get the DSi, read the FAQ that happens to be stickied at the top of this sub forum, to stop threads like these popping up. Otherwise, you're jsut going to get bias, fanboy opinions that lack any real facts.

Life is all about making decisions and making concessions.
I will only buy new 1 handheld, and want to come to a good decision.

I'm not the only one trying to make this decision. Having all points, both + and - may make it easier for other people too.
The points I stated (and got from other people) are facts. Not fanboy bias.

I may try to get a secondhand GBA SP too, one with a backlight for my GBA games. If I can get a good price.

It's actually probably better to have a GBA SP with a DSi since you still maintain multiplayer link functionality.
If you are going to get a GBASP, then definitely get a DSi.

Yeah right know If you want GBA games take DSL. If not take DSi bigger screens and cameras are nice additions. Although in future maybe through homebrew we can run GBA games. Hardware is almost the same i think, so maybe it doesn't need extreme processing power for emulation.

smaller screen shouldnt be really counted as a disadvantage since both the DSi and DSL have the exact same screen resolution
all it does is stretch the image

+1

I still don't see the hype about the whole DSi craze

DSL: GBA slot

, cheaper, screen not THAT much smaller han DSi, glossy

DSi: DSiWare, camera, built inmusic player, funk pics distorter, new, nice keypad

or you can get a DS Phat! Much cheaper than both DSL/i

I bought the DSi for better controls and a better screen. The keys are WAY better to play games now and the screen boost makes visuals more clear for me, because I don't have 20/20 eye vision. The menu also looks more sleek and customizable with the option to move your icons around. The upgraded speakers are also much louder and more clear. I use to have the volume turned all the way up on the DSL, just so I can hear it clearly. Now I use half the volume on the DSI. GBA option isn't a big problem for me, because I grew up with GBA and PSP so I played almost every single GBA game there was to be and I'm sick of them lol. GBA can be emulated on my PSP or PC doesn't matter to me. DSi for the win though, great upgrade for gameplay!

I'll give my reasons then...

4 times the RAM of a DS Lite
Much higher processor speeds than a DS Lite
Will have DSi enhanced/exclusive games
Can support more demanding games, and better graphics
DS games will stop being made eventually, so you'll have to get a DSi sooner or later
DSi store
Totally new 'Wii like' system menu
Hot swap games
A power button that you can tap to return to the DSi menu
Portable music player, possibly movie player sometime soon?
Updatable firmware to add more features
Larger, brighter screens
Better buttons
2 cameras, Skype possibility?
SD card slot, and possibly a DSi Homebrew channel similar to that of the Wii in the future?
It's not glossy, so no more sticky, sweaty horridness

I would like to see a source for this "fact"

There was a post here with a source, but I can't be f***ed finding it. Instead, I found you a nice link from Google, which you should have just done yourself. Here's what it says:

Nintendo of America’s DSi announcement also casually mentioned there is more to the DSi than the camera and DSiWare. In case you didn’t catch the blip here’s the skinny.
In addition to downloadable games, Nintendo DSi is able to play games made specifically for the system and sold at retail. The system can also play most Nintendo DS™ games, and will have access to a library of more than 850 titles originally made for that system.
A few months ago PM Studios told us they were working on making a DSi version of DJ Max Technika. Their plan is to give the Nintendo DSi release more features, but DJ Max Technika would work with a regular DS too. Hardware publishers can take advantage of on the DSi include the camera, faster network connections, the DSiWare Store, and storage space on an SD card.

And is it not obvious that there are going to be exclusive games? Why else would Nintendo QUADTRUPLE the RAM, up the processor speeds, and add 2 cameras amongst other things? Perhaps for new, better games that the DS and DS Lite just could no handle? Oh, and hey! I heard the PSP2 is coming out, but they're not making PSP2 games, just more normal PSP games. It's all just a big con to get people to spend more money! Using the potential of a better console to have better games - what a dumb ass idea that is!

Seriously, just think about it.

listen, ds homebrew can be used on dsi,
the dsi has great future potential!!!!
it plays all ds games
who cares about the gba slot, the dsi's improved hardware can make gba emulation possible if you care
the new menu is great!
trade in price was awsome!, that may not be offered anymore
it will get hacked!

O and here is the best part!!! : you can change the brightness anytime you want now!!!!
OMG that is a BIG deal!!! let me tell you!
i did not understand the way dslite did things in that area... totally bogus!

that does not say anything about they are going to stop making regular DS games
all it says there there will be DSi specific games

They killed GBA. They will kill DS. Sorry to shatter everyone's hopes and dreams.

Like Satoru Iwata said in his Press Conference last October 2008

QUOTE said:
I encourage new people to get the DSi. While the sales of the DS Lite is strong, we will continue the production of the DS Lite

Well...something like that. you get my picture., It's not the exact words but tha's how I re-interpret it. So Dont flame me

What he said, basically meant that even though he recommends people to buy a dsi, they will continue to produce DSLs. It doesn't say anything about stopping the productions of the dsl.

yes they will kill it once they reveal a whole new system that will replace the DS
however the DSi is just a small upgrade to the DS, its not a brand new different system
its the same thing with a couple things tacked onto it

just like GBA, GBA SP, GBA Micro
DS, DS Lite, DSi

seeing a patern?

I also want to see a source for that fact

. But in MY OPINION (no source or anything else blah blah blah), i think that the DS Phat/Lite era is soon to end cuz they did not upgrade the DS for no reason. aight? Maybe the DSi will prove to be a much better console once the firmware has been upgraded to some later versions or maybe when the DSi is already hacked
yaynds.gif
. It is only an opinion. I could be wrong.
rolleyes.gif

Man get a DSi cuz sooner or later it will get softmodded and will be posible to play GBA/NDS games from the SD Card

and the DSi is a lot better hardware than the DSL
