Hacking DS vs DSi - which to get?

yes they will kill it once they reveal a whole new system that will replace the DS
however the DSi is just a small upgrade to the DS, its not a brand new different system
its the same thing with a couple things tacked onto it

just like GBA, GBA SP, GBA Micro
DS, DS Lite, DSi

GameBoy, GameBoy Advance. GBA could play GB and GBA games. What, wait a sec, what the hell happened to GB!?

At first, PS3s played PS2 games. Soon after, PS2 games were killed off, newer PS3s could not play PS2 games and all you could buy/play were PS3 games.

Nintendo will make DSi only games, kill the normal DS games, so everyone buys the DSi and Nintendo become even more rich and evil. 6 months from now, I'll come back to this thread and laugh at you all.

thats a good question, its was never really explained by nintendo what the reason behind not being able to play GB and GBC games on the DS
rumor is hardware constraints (though could still emulate it though...)


PS3 can still play PS1 games though (on any PS3 model, they can all play PS1 games)
they took PS2 compatible out due to the money being lost on each system, they could emulate the emotion engine, however there were still PS2 components in it, most people suspect that they couldnt emulate the GS chip properly, the emotion engine emulation wasnt that great though compared to have the EE chip inside the PS3 itself
not only that but the PS2 is still selling and is still being made right now, so I dont know if this move was too just push more PS2 units off the shelf until it was discontinued and then they might reintroduce a PS3 that can PS2 games again
they annouced a 10 year life span for the system, so 2010-2011 should be the end for the PS2, they wanna milk the cash cow dry
