Gaming DS Lite D-Pad Broken (Left key only)

The left arrow key on my nephew's DS Lite is not working. The up, right, and down still work perfectly. Will replacing the rubber pad under the keys fix this issue? Or could it be a motherboard issue.

Thanks for pointing me that way. I went and posted it to AskGBAtemp. Hopefully, it will get answered there or here. If I don't get an answer I'll probably try to replace the pad anyway and see if it works.

If you are going to take it apart, make sure it is in place if it is then, flip the pad 180 degrees and push the pad down and see if you go left. The rubber pad has a conductive part and it connects the two metal point where the button is at closing the circuit, you can use wires or something to jump them to see if it is just the board or the pad.
