I didn't really need it but $2 for a [quite functional] DS Lite wasn't something I could ignore.

The only problem with it is that the hinge is broken, but everything else still works.

I did look into fixes but everything costs more than the DS Lite itself, lol.

Is there anything useful I can do with it except scrapping it for parts?

There might be some hard cases on the market which stop the screen from bending back further than the hinge would have let it and they're probably only about $10. Depends whether you want to actually play it or just let it sit around because it was cheap.

I recently got back into playing mine.

Even though the original battery seemed fine, I even designed a super simple PCB that I could solder a brand new battery too, that fits perfectly in the DS lite's body.

If you are paying more than .01 cent for a resistor you are looking at the wrong places.

I was thinking more hot/super glue solutions. $10 is $8 too many :P

I don't think the resistor costs much, but every 330 ohm one I found was $5 shipped or more.

Im one of those dorks who has 330 ohm resistors in through hole, and various SMD sizes on hand.

But you are right, the shipping is what will be the main cost if you just want to buy 10 of them from lcsc or digikey or whatever.

Update if anyone's wondering/is in this quandary in the future: I ended up murdering a GameBoy and stealing the resistor from it.

I think the resistor needed for that is more than $2 with shipping :P
A backlit GBA is a lot more than $2.
Also, resistors cost pennies. I got a pack of like 800 resistors in various values for a few bucks.

You could probably 3D print a new hinge piece tbh.
