Gaming Ds games freezing on 3DS?

So, recently, my ds games have been freezing on me and my girlfriends 3ds'. Heartgold, diamond, and pearl have been affected. They all have frozen when in sleep mode, and just pearl when actually playing, it just froze and tons of progress was lost. The games are in perfect condition, and i'd really like to know why this keeps happening. We've both got CFW 3DS' so if theres any modifications we can do, we can try them out. Maybe try updating? idk... Maybe some twl modifications were done? btw even if you're on 11.0 try updating.

Are they legit cartridges or bootlegs? What CFW are you using? Is TWL_FIRM patched?

I am on 11.0, she is on 11.0.
I have arm9 with luma, but havent gotten around to getting hers set up, so shes still on reinand

And yes, they are both original cartoges from 2006 or 2007, whenever they came out.

Does that happen on both of your 3DS? What about non-CFW 3DS or older DS (eg DS Lite)?

I have an old 3ds, o3dsxl, and n3dsxl
Happened on all of them, (hers is a n3dsxl) and its never happened on my ds fat or ds lite.

Maybe you should clean the cartridges?

My DS lite had some trouble recognizing CycloDS and cleaning the contacts solved the issue.
