Actually, now you mention it, I've taken my R4 cartridge out once, and still played a whole level of New Super Mario Bros. So sometimes the DS loads a lot of it into its memory first.
And, yeah, I suppose it wouldn't make much sense for it to be two-cartridge. We'll just sit tight and see.

If you take out the cartridge when a commercial game is running the program freezes, however if you do tat to a homebrew (which of course isn't streaming data atm) then you can happily keep playing/using the app. This means that the freezing is probably just something built in the official devkits and is called when the cartridge is taken out.
No.

The difference is that homebrew applications are much, much smaller than commercial ROMs, so the whole thing gets loaded into memory upon boot. Most commercial games load new data quite frequently, and when the cart its attempting to load from isn't there, it obviously freezes.

Use common sense.

Okay, I did my research, and most websites have come to the conclusion it's a fake done by an overexcited fan. It makes you wonder why people would go through so much trouble just to trick a few people.
I hate those kind of people.
Well not hate but am not entertained by them.
Does anybody remember Super Mario Galaxy DS?

Is that 2 cartridges for DQ9 a joke? I'm pretty sure it's never been said about the cartridges. And how would we flashcard users handle the thing?
Actually, glad you brought that up. It's in no way confirmed. It's just that while browsing for screenshots I saw an image of the inside of the box, which contained two DQ9 carts. Infact, here's a link to the screenshot:
2 Carts

I'd see no reason for it to be faked, and it looks real enough. Must be an absolutely huge game if that's the case!

QUOTEBleach: Dark Souls - US
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days - Japan
Ryuusei no Rockman 3 (Tentative Title) - Japan
Gyakuten Kenji - Japan

And ooh, I forgot Kingdom Hearts, thanks for mentioning it. As for Perfect Prosecutor, most people know about that already, so I didn't bother putting it in. The other two aren't quite popular enough to mention (actually, what is Ryuusei no Rockman 3?).

Ryuusei no Rockman 3 = Mega Man Star Force 3

I can't wait for:
Mega Man Star Force 2: Zerker x Ninja/Zerker x Saurian
Kingdom Hearts 358/2
Gyakuten Kenji
Ryuusei no Rockman 3

There are tons more but I can't remember them all lol

All this discussion about 2-cart DQ9 got me thinking: are the 2048Mb carts the biggest DS can handle/ Nintendo can produce?

I was under the impression the biggest was 1024Mb! I don't think any games have been bigger than that. I'm sure they could produce larger if tey needed to though.

There have been a handful of 2048Mb games.

There are few 2048, but only in Japan at the moment, for example rom #2032 and #1458.
So if they can make bigger there is no point in making 2-cart games. I know that it was fake with DQ9... Just thinking out loud.

I need to get my ass in gear and start beating all the games i've started but never finished. haha

English of the Dead.. LOL

I loved Typing of the Dead - I played it a lot at my local arcade

Looking forward to:

LEGO Jones/Batman
Gauntlet (didn't know about it, just saw it here first time!)
Guitar Hero
Band Bros. DX (the only true import game i purchased for the DS... L-O-V-E-D it, can't wait for DX!)
Kingdom Hearts (the wife and i love these games.)

So, by the end of the week, i'll have a SCDS-One ordered for the wife, so some gauntlet play won't be out of the picture. (she loves the multi-player adventure games... I WIN!

Some good games coming.. but this year is still going slower than 2007.
Something very strange happening.. there's no Nintendo games expected for this year.. not even a Brain Age 3 or something.. according to Reggie, Nintendo will unveil their whole second quarter lineup for Wii/DS at E3.. hope they're hiding something really good

edit: Sorry, saw this topic just today.. the whole DQIX in 2 carts thing was a joke created when the game was announced.. some Sony fanboys complaining that the DS couldn't handle the size of the game..

two cartriges might be implemented on ds games soon.did you guys noticed 1 single cart will max only around 128mb its a lack of space actually.i finished quite alot of RPG games on ds but the story seems so short for me..i want it like final fantasy in playstation.something like 4 to 5 disc for an story..since dragon quest was made by squire+enix it might come out as 2 cartrige.lol a long story game might be fun to be added in ds

No. The DS cart spec allows up to 512 megabytes on a cartridge without bank switching (the biggest games so far are 256 megabytes). With bank switching, there is not any real limit to the capacity of a DS cart.

There will never be a multi cart game, because there will never be a need for multiple carts.

No, the largest cart made so far has been 256MB (2048Mb).

You can't make a 2 carts game.. a game cart doesn't work like a CD.

The save information of a game is kept on it's own cart, you can't transfer it to other carts unless you use something like a swaping GBA cart or something.. which would be stupid. On the PSX and other consoles, the Memory card is used for the that.

Again, THE 2 DQIX 2 CART THING IS A JOKE! IT'S NOT REAL! THE GAME DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A RELEASE DATE YET!!
