Nope if he has wup installer gx installed as a channel then he can do it without a gamepad.

Can you use other controllers other than the gamepad with Wup Installer GX? all the actual interface is on the gamepad itself.

Actually I stand corrected as I only ever use the wiiu gamepad to play games ect as I like to watch TV at the same time I just assumed it would also display on the TV but I was wrong just tried it out and it just displays a big banner why the dev done that makes zero sense to me lol

Because the gamepad is the main controller option for the console? it make sense why it only uses the gamepad because you expect evey Wii U user to have a gamepad instead of having wiimotes, classic controllers or pro controllers so the gamepad should be the main focus here even on homebrew. But not saying having the option of using the other controllers would be a bad idea.

Yep but devs of homebrew should also consider that not everyone has a wiiu pad I know several members on this very site that don't have a wiiu gamepad and one of them is a well known dev himself lol. Nintendo didn't make wiiu games that only displayed on the gamepad so why are defs doing it again I repeat for that very reason it makes zero sense.

Well the gamepad comes packaged with the system itself so there's 0 reason why you would buy a Wii U without a gamepad, it would be like buying a Ps4 and only having ps3 controllers around.

A number of people have broken gamepads and some have bought wiius second hand without the gamepad and someone I know has had their gamepad stolen lol I do agree they are idiots for braking their pads of for buying a wiiu without one but like I said a number of users on this site have done that for some bizarre reason lol.

Well if you break your gamepad as a result of a homebrew experiment or some test, but if you are a regular user and just buy a Wii U without gamepad or break your gamepad i'm sorry but you guys are total idiots.
