I think there's a twist that puts it all together that shows the true face of the "witch". At least Mar Hamill was kind enough to have a conversation before the movie ended, but the trade-off is no lightsaber.

"Nobody" believes in these things until they're in a situation where "these" things are supposed to work or happen (I'm talking about those brave people who say that they don't believe or that's for stupid weak people or whatever excuse they make to justify their superiority over you, or whoever they're talking/laughing to/of).

For example:
Nobody believes in ghosts or things like that, but how many of these "brave" people are willing to go, or even stay in some of the "horror" abandoned hospitals or asylums? Or how many of them are willing to try some of those "games with death" (like Hitori Kakurenbo)? I'm sure that not so many people.

The fact is that they are (probably, since I haven't tried any of those "games") fake, but the fact that "we don't know", in reality, makes us believe, somehow.

Now, I don't really believe in the existence of any of those things, but since I don't really know, and there are MANY things we don't know about everything... Who knows. I'm scared of those things being true.

Finally, even if scared, I always wanted to try something like the Ouija or "collective" games. I don't know, maybe someday I will try.

You seem like you have some problems with scepticism. Care to elaborate further at all?

But can be fairly sure as we do have a fair understanding of physics, have never had a quantifiable/demonstrable case and can replicate the effects easily enough from a psychological/sociological standpoint. I am curious how you have pulled things from seemingly a variety of different cultures, as indeed such a thing evolving separately with subtle but important differences in parallel and in relation to local cultural norms (the classic one being look at all the pre literate tribal religions and how they all play out differently from places where the word (of the lord/god/ninja king) means any magic and mysticism tends to be based on such things) is often a good reason to dismiss them.

"Ouija" is a game made in the late 1800s.

I should also encourage you to look up something called Pascal's wager or Pascal's gambit as you are about 90% of the way to reinventing it

it's like when you coding a program and it didn't work but you don't know why, or you coding a program and it worked but still don't know why it worked.

however most curses this days are just to scare people.

I think it's more extended than karma law, I traced work of catholic exorcists a little, so I heard about white magic, for example It's when one person wants power to control reality and cast a spell on other person even for good reason, but it may differ to God's Will or exclude Him(cause spell is not a pray), so indirectly it's volatation of First Comandment, you risk yourself and others to limit your freedom for your wish. Please don't play any occult games and contact with spirits, it's dangerous to open to this reality and often hard to get out, it's no fun for anyone.

They can work as rituals. Saying the "scottish play" instead creates a bond between the actors, which allows them to trust each other more. Like religious rituals do.

If you believe something stupid like viewing a popup for too long then it will either scare you when you see it or if you are curious or want to harm yourself you'll stare at it then probably drive yourself crazy with fear. If you are scared then you'll do stupid things and your life will become worse.
