Hacking Do the 3DS and 3DS XL use the same firmware?

This is probably a stupid question, but I want to make sure. As asked in the title, is the firmware version of both consoles the same?

The XL just "stretches" the aspect ratio using hardware.

No, the 3DS XL has the same resolution, no aspect ratio or stretching is done. It just has bigger pixels.
