I was trying to enable GPDR protection like what the switch guide said here: https://switch.homebrew.guide/hacki...html#step-2-eu-only-enabling-gdpr-protections

It says "Users with EU Nintendo Network accounts have the option of enabling GDPR protections in their account settings. Doing so has been confirmed to disable lots of telemetry that can get you banned. This setting will not appear if your account is not from the EU."
  1. Go to https://accounts.nintendo.com/setting
  2. Login with your NNID
  3. Under ‘Other settings’, Edit ‘Usage information’ and set it to ‘Don’t share’
  4. Save your changes

However it's talking about a Nintendo Network ID which apparently isn't even used for the Switch as mentioned here: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/...hat-require-a-Nintendo-Network-ID-841603.html

So am I still supposed to create an account on that page mentioned by the guide? I asked the writers of the guide but never got a reply.

What's the point in creating an online account and signing into it on the Switch if surely you can't sign into it since it's blocked by the DNS to prevent getting banned?

I was told you DO need an online account even if not playing online because some local multiplayer games require it. However I was told you can make a fake account just for playing offline games. How do you do that?

Wouldn't help much if you run backup on the same NAND with the NNID attach to it good chance you would get a ban anyway, that is not going to help you evade a ban anyway.

You're right, NNID' aren't used on the Switch directly. That accounts page isn't for NNID though, it's for Nintendo Accounts, which the Switch uses. The person who wrote it is just a bit confused.

I've never had a Nintendo account before. Should I still create one via my browser then do I use Linkalho to link each user's account offline so I can play certain local multiplayer games that require an account?

Create a Nintendo Account because you never know when you will need one in the future. Linkalho should be reserved for people who are banned and cannot link an account normally.

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
