Hacking Do I need DS lite to update Supercard?

I was considering buying a Supercard from here: http://www.dsflashcart.com/supercard-dstwo-best-flashcard-for-ds-dsi-3ds-p-252.html and in Big Red letters it says
"you don't need to update it with a DS lite when you receive it."

So...does that mean I need a regular DS to update the card in the future? Because I only have a 3DS XL (what I was planning on using the card for).

Based on that it sounds like they update it before they ship it.
You won't need to use a regular DS unless you accidentally update the 3DS before updating the DSTWO.

it simply means that it's updated to work with the latest 3ds firmware, so you don't need a ds to update it, unless a newer firmware came out while it shipped and you updated your 3ds.

to put it simply, when there's a new 3ds firmware, you need to update the supercard firmware to maintain compatibility, if you don't have a ds/ds lite, the trick is to update the cart before the 3ds.
