you need patches to ES to use eshop dumps, regardless of source, even if you did it yourself, as you are still pirating the ticket into the common ticketbin instead of signed into the private ticketbin (i.e. sys-patch is needed)
Thank you so much for your help. I am sorry to sound very dim but what do you mean by ES? Also, my other game I bought and dumped at the same time worked. Just checked - I have sys-patch, I got the update pack from HATS

ES Patches are required to run the game, if you are using syspatch if you got corrupted games, reinstall the games.

ES, an official sysmodule from nintendo, titleid/program id: 0100000000000033 https://switchbrew.org/wiki/ETicket_services
it's the module responsible for the backend of eshop, related to tickets, (NS - 010000000000001F https://switchbrew.org/wiki/NS_services being the one who handles parts of how cartridges and digital temporary licenses are handled)

i don't support HATS in any shape or form, it's a bloated bundle which at times has included what I would consider a malicious alteration to package3 (specifically to mesosphere/the kernel) only causing problems for end users on firmware 21.0.0 and above - would recommend removing, replacing with official atmosphere and sys-patch from the respective repositories only, at least until he stops doing that, and doesn't do it again in the future, as identifying who is the source of problems when they somehow find their way asking for help in support channels, it turns out one or more parts of HATS bundle is culprit

the moment "HATS" went beyond just bundling official hekate, official atmosphere and patches (sys-patch), is when it just became annoying to deal with in support ecosystem tbh (Hekate Atmosphere Sigpatches/HATS - not more, not less)

Thank you so much for your helpful information.

Over the years I have never successfully loaded Atmos as there have always been bits missing causing ES errors and so I have had to resort to HATS with all the bloatware, most of which I know nothing about nor want. I have now found a comprehensive guide and all the bits I need for a basic Atmosphere so finally I now have a lean mean modded machine with just a few bit of homebrew and no bloatware.

I still have one of my eshop purchased games I can't load but I can only assume it must be due to something new Ninty's done to prevent it.

it might be a recent game with zbic exefs compression (as opposed to the before state of lz4 compression), which will be fixed in the next official atmosphere build (or alternatively if you're impatient, obtain a compiled output of this commit https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/commit/6e6af694244002fd6799703a54a5e24f0a0b9ac1 for 22.5.0 support already today

edit:
this release is just that, the latest commit with zbic exefs decompression support - no changes - only up to 22.5.0 support
https://github.com/borntohonk/Atmosphere/releases/tag/1.11.2
https://github.com/borntohonk/Atmos...1.11.2/atmosphere-1.11.2-master-6e6af6942.zip
https://github.com/borntohonk/Atmosphere/releases/download/1.11.2/fusee.bin

(the current latest official atmosphere release, 1.11.2, does not have the commits required to properly support zbic compressed exefs, those commits chronologically were made after its release)
