DLDI and wifi/ftp based DS rom dumper

Rudolph at it again

Rudolph (the same person behind moonshell reset for the r4/m3dss, a lot of EZFlash related applications and code and some DSLink stuff to name but a small selection) has released a DLDI based DS slot to GBA slot rom dumper as well as as FTP/wifi based dumper.

It has since been tested by several members with varying setups (flashme modified and original firmware with multiple DLDI supporting flash carts) on various titles without issue. It should however go without saying that backing up important data/saves is suggested.

The FTP dumper is slightly slower (average of 20kb/second) and requires a good FTP program like Nekosgi, RaidenFTPD, BulletproofFTP to function. You will need to DLDI patch it as well if you do not have autopatching onboard.

Simple instructions for the GBA slot dumper and a flashme modified DS.

  • Setup and run DLDI homebrew as normal.

In menu follow instructions on inserting cart

    Press R twice

Press B to create a new dump

Wait for dump to finish (a 32 Megabyte / 256Megabit rom goes roughly at the rate of 1% every 2-3 seconds)
Also included is save dumping capabilities.

Before anyone askes, yes that is my busted DS in the picture, the cart in question is a Warioware touched EU cart.

As for testing I myself have tested it with as Flashme v7 modded old style DS. My EZ4 with my junk 512Mbyte sandisk (FAT16 format, standard cluster size, cart was empty save moonshell and the dumper) and the standard EZ4 DLDI (as opposed to the slow cart alt one).

Anyhow as well as myself:

I've tested with
EZ4 Lite Deluxe
1GB Sandisk Ultra II

Dumped EZPASS3(8MB) in 27 secs. I think that converts to ~300Kb/s! Thats alot faster than the WiFi dumper. I'll test it with a larger game once I get home. Be careful though I corrupted my SD while screwing around so its still bugged.

I can now use my G6 Lite to dump ROMs.....I mean make backups.

Just testing it out with one of my games now.

*edit* I can confirm that the G6 Lite makes good dumps with this tool. I just dumped Meteos and the CRC matches from the scene release and the game loads fine. It took quite a while to dump though. Very well done Rudolph!

How much space do you need to have on your card? enough for a specific un-trimmed back-up?

Thanks to the tool author
