After numerous delays and an accidental issue where the first demo gave players access to the full game, NIS America has decided on a release date for the PC version of Disgaea 5: Complete. Nearly three years after it's original release, Disgaea 5 and all its DLC content will be arriving on Steam later this month, on October 22nd. If you pre-order the game, you can purchase it for $29.99, but after launch, the price will increase to $39.99. Another demo will be available, this time through Alienware Arena. Players can register on the site, and then go to the page here to claim a demo code for Disgaea 5: Complete. Currently, the game is available on both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

I'm still laughing out of the embarassing joke of a demo they threw out.

For those missing it, it was basically the whole game with a simple block at the end of Chapter 2. A block that was easily bypassed by using the Switch files of the game. And while this will probably be patched out of this release, I wouldn't be surprised to see another blatant mistake out of the game, or something like the translation mistakes pointed out from said demo's release not being corrected at all.

But hey, it's NISA after all. Remember, the guys who were able to make PS3 melt if you were using certain fire spells in Disgaea D2 (quite meta in itself, but that's not the point), the guys who were able to make games like Witch and the Hundred Knight unfinishable due to heavy glitches, the guys who made a translation so horrible for the Neptunia games that fans took several months to retranslate it for the PC market (search for the Re;translations of Rebirth 2 and 3, they're worth it), the guys who are known to "add a little flavor to the game" while translating it.

Disgaea 5 is a solid game, though. But NISA makes it painful.

EDIT : Here's the list if you want to see what to expect - https://uploads.disquscdn.com/image...f6d7b3ec12800a7f8250d66c9ff6bfc8608bf6c74.jpg
And that doesn't even touch the recent failures, like what happened with Ys VIII.

Too little too late I'm afraid. I think most of the people who wanted the game already played and finished the cracked demo. If they kept their preorder while playing a pirated copy, is that actually morally wrong?

Wow, they sound like total shit. What will it take to make them go out of business so that someone competent can pick up their licenses?

Already bought the arguably best version. Which is the Switch version.

Thank god, not full price, but damn, the game is a time killer, when playing on the road.

Seems like the textures are gonna be the same low Q on PC.
Contacted NISA to see if its just the demo or the 2D art is gonna be 720p for PC.
Pre ordered it so i'm bummed about it, thought they would fix it after the delay.

Probably nothing at this point. The main branch is well conscious of their problems since years yet nothing has been done against them, and I'm not even sure boycotting would work since NISA is well-appreciated in Europe for bringing niche games there. Ys VIII gave me some hope with the numerous complaints against the lolcalisation, but in the end and even after their changes did absolutely nothing, the losses were minimal.

So the only things I'd suggest to do are removing any precommands, waiting for the game to be released and for the main problems to be found and corrected before buying it on sale. You won't lose anything but time (and there are many other games to wait), and you will win the advantages of playing the decent version of the game. There's also the option of playing the pirated version, since it's available since the previous demo.

Dumb claim to make. Games like Disgaea that are super long-form tactical RPGs and aren't very demanding on hardware are perfect for Switch's hybrid nature. It's good to have the option of portable play for all indies, because they're going to run at 60 FPS anyway unless designed otherwise. Not to mention, as much as I enjoy Sony exclusives, most Nintendo exclusives run at 60 FPS on weaker hardware vs Sony exclusives at 30 FPS (45 FPS on PS4 Pro). My biggest gripe with Sony is the half-assed attempt to reach 4K before they've even accomplished 1080p@60 FPS.

PC is the king when it comes to any demanding AAA multiplat unless it has very poor optimization.

Wow this is botched beyond belief. It's almost embarassing. All the network features are missing. They didn't even make the map editor available offline. What's worse? They knew from the beginning that this was the case. Also the save format was changed to spite the people who had the audacity to continue playing the demo after the delay, cracked or not. I guess that was what they worked on for over half a year. They are also banning people from the Steam forums for the game for speaking out against the behavior.
