So, I heard the bug in the dub version occurs if you try to go to the coliseum or talk to a specific Digimon. So as long as I avoid both of these, I should theoretically be fine, at least until the updated patch is a thing, right ?
And I wanted to thank you, I'd been waiting for this game to be translated. Congratulations.

To clarify, we did do plenty of testing on actual hardware. The bug was introduced in the last few days, and by that point, since we'd had months and months without bugs on the PSP, we forgot to do a last check on PSPs. We should have, and will keep that in mind for Decode, but it's not that we didn't think people would use actual PSPs.

How is reporting a bug and criticizing the beta test ungrateful? wtf man.
I'm not trying to shit on them for overlooking a bug I just want them to do better next time.
I don't think you are being ungrateful but please understand that this error gut snuck in by the last minute and for reasons I explained already there was nothing I could do really. I can't afford another PSP, mine broke down about 2 weeks before the scheduled release, what was I supposed to do? I believed since it worked already there was no reason it wouldn't anymore. All I can say is we will fix this, our testers played it on a real PSP too and it worked fine during our tests. This is really something that got snuck in due to the whole dub/sub thing. Which is incidentally also why the dub has less problems.

No wonder why this took so long. In a sense it were 2 translation patches. One with japanese terms (sub) and one with american terms (dub). It was natural that the bug sneaked in, since it meant more movement during the translasting, correcting, inserting, and all the whole process needed to make the patch (or patches).

The important thing is that they identified the bug and will fix it soon, so is nothing that can't be fixed :)

Actually 4 patches. We also had to make it compatible with the UMD and the PSN version (since people complained) ;)

I wouldn't call it ungrateful, but due to them already knowing all of this, even being said of the blog, it's undeeded information now, since they already know, there is errors and such on the real PSP with it.

It didn't really add that much time to the process, but it was part of the reason the bugs happened. Basically, in order to do some things that massively spread up the polishing phase of the translation, I had Romsstar make up a pair of scripts that would extract all of the game's text to a series of text files. I used those to do things like spellcheck and use regular expressions to find common errors. It's also how we made the sub version of the patch, I just did a search and replace for things like Evolve into Digivolve (incidentally, I missed one of the exception cases, and so now in the cards, the word revolver reads rdigivolver). The bug here happened because of the tool used to reinsert those text files into the files used by the game. Apparently in a small percentage of cases, it screws up the header data. Granted, we could technically have exported and imported all of that data with our normal tool and not had this problem, but it's ~350 files, and importing and exporting would have taken us several hours each time we needed to make a new test patch.

On the whole though, we would have needed a tool like this either way. You would not believe how many typos and instances of text going outside of boxes we fixed with the added functionality that tool gave us. We'll need to fix it for Decode though, so that this doesn't happen again.

Hah, I know it's horrible.
I do remember 3 instances, the most recent being the one I just told you.
Then there was the steam hacking flash update EXE thing, which I was an idiot to open, but I did, it hacked my steam info (steam support helped me) and put some weird programs on my brothers computer.
then there was a sims 4 torrent I think it was at-least, which opened command prompt when I start the pc, and used it to open a website filled with ads, and porn.
Ugh don't even mention ads, I recently lost 2GB of data from my bundle cause of vid ads. Oh and at your post about the game being old its a 2012 release and its now 2015 so it really isnt that old lol

I think what he means is that nobody really has any rights to critize this, they took time out of their lives to translate this and make the game playable for people who either can't read japanese or who wanted the real english experience. So basically said keep all critique to yourselves and be grateful that we can at least play this on some platform.

I know, but 3 years can lead to a lot of difference.

I mean still no flying cars, but graphics wise.

I appreciate that attitude, but as long as we're releasing an update, I'd rather we make as many fixes as we can at once. Screenshots of typos would be most helpful at the moment.

I did not knew that there were 2 Versions of the game (PSN and UMD)
We know that Dub seems to has fewer Crashes than Sub; but are there differences betwenn patched PSN and patched UMD Versions?

Something like PSN Dub having more/less crashes than UMD DUB?

The PSN and UMD versions are basically the same. The UMD patches take a little longer to make as a result of some technical issues, but otherwise they're the same. The bugs are the result of a tool we used to make the files we inserted, and they're the same between PSN and UMD, though different between sub and dub.

What exactly is the difference between the sub and dub versions?

Sub uses terms like evolve and Dukemon, it's based on the Japanese terms, translated where necessary. The dub uses the terms from the American dub, like digivolve and Gallantmon. Otherwise, they're basically the same, so it's mostly a matter of which version is more nostalgic for you.

Guys really, you sure went the extra mile with this translation! :D

I really appreciate all the effort you put on this. Sure it took some years for it to be completed, but all that wait was really worth seeing the final result :D

I'm playing it on PPSSPP and it is really great to be able to know what is going on in the game's main plot, GIGO's history, etc. :)

I don't think I can thank you enough for this translation, but I think that I speak for everyone when I say that you guys rock! :D

Oh okay!

I'm gonna switch to the sub then, since I prefer the subbed version of the anime.

Sounds good, I've always liked the subs more as well. There's a stupid error though, I forgot to put the subbed version of the special attack names in, so that will be wrong until the 1.1 comes out in the next couple of days.

Ah that's alright.
I'll just use Sub for now, and keep checking for new version on the blog and such.

I'll make a post here when it's out as well. I wouldn't expect it until tomorrow, though, we should have it made by the end of the day, but we're going to do a little extra testing and typo hunting.
