Yes. It will take some time and will not be as good as I'd like it to, but it's what I can do for now (and it wouldnt be obsolete once xmb is in)
- Make the 'Menu' label prominent
- Remove the tab if it has no functional purpose
- Align contents left/right

Welp, that still isn't working and I tried the link the that @Twistedziefer sent to the same result, so I'll just wait until it becomes easier to use and clearer. I don't mind waiting.
This made me think of a layout more resembling Horizon's menu.
What do you think? Is this technicaly possible?
Ps: i'll render it with the background to check contrast and stuff and come back later.
Edit: Is the background image final or just an idea? I just found it on google, doesn't copyright apply?

Nothing is final yet. I prefer a native menu, but thats done easily with the Tools I gonna build.

Also, how would that be possible on the Switch? That menu engine was compatible with the PS3, but not available on most other platforms AFAIK...
I have a big problem with those 2 desings, and is that I see no space for thumbnails, the desing is ok but retroarch isn't retroarch with clean playlists with nice thumbnails for a perfect clean ROM collection.

Don't take me wrong, RetroNX's GUI looks pretty Kick-Ass!!! And you can easily left space for thumbnails, just saying that thumbnails or some sort of cover flow is a "must-have" for an emulator frontend.

Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
