OK, so I splurged recklessly and now I have a new DS Lite, a Superpass 2, and a Supercard. No matter what I do I can't seem to get the DS Lite to boot the Supercard in DS mode.

I am using Supercard software 2.541.

The superpass2 is the purple one, not the new black one. I'm using the correct Superpass 2 programmer software (at first I was using the one for the new black superpass2 by mistake and it wasn't recognizing the programmer, but now that I have the correct version it does).

So here's what I did:

I formatted the SD card as FAT, not FAT32. Then I put the SD card in the SD card reader in my laptop and put the Supercard kernel 1.62 update ".bin" file, Flashme v7.nds, a few converted DS ROMs and their .savs (after passing through the Supercard conversion software), and "arme-0.gba" and "arme-0.sav" on my SD card, all right in the card, no subfolders or anything.

I put the SD Card in the SC and the SC in the DS, and boot in GBA mode. The Supercard menu shows ONLY the kernel update and "arme-0.gba" on the ROM list screen (no DS ROMs), but it does show all of the .sav files in the saver section.

I choose the kernel update which updates my SC kernel from 1.60 to 1.62.

So far so good.

I program the Superpass2 for Mario & Luigi Partners in Time (U) (the real DS cartridge I have).

That goes OK, I remove the Superpass 2 from the programmer, set the switch on the Superpass 2 back to the top position and insert the DS cartridge into the Superpass 2.

I insert the Superpass 2 1/2 way into the DS and start up the DS in GBA mode. I choose "arme-0.gba" and it says:

"Writing SRAM...
done."

I switch the DS off, put the Superpass all the way in, and start it up.

No matter how many times I try that, and at what speed, it always only boots in GBA mode. Do I have to switch it off quickly after it says "done"? I've done the off-in-on step very quickly (like less than a second beginning to end) and slowly (maybe 2 or 3 seconds). No luck.

I've tried it in both automatic and manual boot mode, no difference. If it's in manual mode and the Superpass 2 works, will the DS button in the DS menu be clickable? It's always grayed out with the GBA button clickable now.

I'm pretty well stumped now. Anyone have any suggestions? Any obvious stuff I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for any advice -- you guys have always come to the rescue in the past. This thing is beautiful with GBA games, they're a whole new experience with the nice bright screen, but it'd be nice to play some actual DS games on it!

Forgot one detail -- after trying the off-in-on step, sometimes (but not 100% of the time) the Supercard menu's list screen shows both "arme-0.gba" and "sramwrite(in card)". What's that second thing?

And what exactly is "arme-0.gba" doing? Writing the data from the .sav file into the Supercard SRAM? And the quick reset means it's still in memory? I only have to get it to work once, right? Then from then on I just put the Superpass2/DS game in and turn it on?

Thanks again if anybody can help, I really appreciate it.

OK, think I found the problem. My real Mario & Luigi Partners in Time cartridge says "ARMEN1...etc." on the back, but the only way I see it listed online is "ARME-0" so I must have a newer version of the cartridge that's not the same as what the sramwriter is meant for. Never thought to check the actual number on the real thing, just used the online lists that say MLPT should be ARME-0. Drat. Off to the store to get something that is compatible, then I can't try again until Monday when I get back to work since my laptop (the only computer I have at home) doesn't have a parallel port (or serial or whatever it is on the Superpass programmer).

UPDATE: That was the issue. Switched to a DS cartridge that is a version that's on the Supercard programmer software's list, repgrammed, and it worked the first time. Flashme'd it and I'm all set.
